Description I'm a Slytherin, but i've also got a smidgeon of Ravenclaw in me. I love both charms and potions, but it's more a recreational interest as opposed to a professional one. The gorilla on my bag has been enchanted; his name is Tim. He can grow to enormous size, but he's a gentle giant. I'd like to become an animagus someday, but i really don't trust my transfiguration skills at the moment, haha. One can dream though.

Hahaha is it one of those Kipling(?) bags that come with a gorilla keychain?
...
And I love how you had such an insightful conversation on Harry Potter and animaguses...Not being a creep and looking at your other comments or anything lol..

C: Yep!! I got one as a bag ages ago and it's still my favourite bag to this day. Me and my gorilla have had so many adventures together i couldn't not include him in my perception of me, lol.

They were public comments, no harm in reading them... so, what's your interpretation of the animagus? Is it a choice, or something you can't control?

Ahhh Did you name him? C:
Haha still..
Ummm...I personally think that it's chosen for them by their personality and magic...The person's animagus should suit them and their type of magic, I guess C: Or maybe it's also partly a inheritance thing?
Like that ghost thing (I forget the name lol) that comes out of the wand for that one spell...Like how Harry's was a deer like James's, and he got all confused and disappointed when he realized it wasn't his father that saved him from the dementors in that one scene?

Yep, his name is Tim (though apparently they're all prenamed, and i was just silly enough to not figure his out. Real name's something like Merche, i think.)

The ghost thing is a Patronus, i think. And yep, that's what i figure, that the patronus is inherent, and that animagi probably would be too. Harry's patronus is a stag, i wonder if James's would have been as well...

Oh, haha. It's always awkward when you name something that already has a name xD

I think both James' and Lily's Patronus was a deer/stag thing..Snape's and Lily's were at least (I think..?)..But I think that it's also based on personality...I don't know, it's been a while since I watched the movie with the Patronuses, I forget, haha...

I don't remember if James's or Lily's were explicitly stated (though i'm almost certain James' was a stag) but Snape's was definitely a doe. Yeah... i've been focusing so much on the later Harry Potter stuff that i'm starting to forget simple things from the beginning...

I really feel I need to know, regarding your dev ID, what your animagus form would be. It's a pressing question.

I also own the hat that goes with that scarf, so that made me happy ^^

Hm, i'm not actually sure. I've heard you can't control your animagus form, and that it's a reflection of something inside of you? It'd suck if you spent all your time learning how to become one and then all of a sudden you realize you're a rat in the inside. Though probably something hyperactive and adhd. Corgi, maybe?

I've actually knitted my own Slytherin scarf (the colours are maybe a little off, lol) but winter's coming soon a hat would be nice too...

Hm. You're right, that would suck a little. I always got the impression they chose their animal forms, but then again it could go either way, since they really seem to fit them... And you've just made me remember that I want a Corgi. That would be an awesome animagus form. ^^ If it's a reflection of something inside you, mine would probably be some useless like a bunny. I love bunnies, but man, not the most useful or noble creature around

I'm not too crafty, so I did the loser thing and bought my Slytherin hat. I wanted the hat + scarf + tie they sell, but it's expensive...

Maybe, but i don't see Pettigrew willingly choosing to be a rat. Though two animagi have the same patronus forms (Prongs and Mcgonagall) and i don't think you can chose your patronus (was snape's always a doe? in which case, was lily's always a doe?) or maybe James and Minerva just liked stags and cats a lot.

I saw a picture once of all the hogwarts houses as dogs and gryffindor was a "gryffincorg" and was gonna link it but i couldn't find it and ended up spending an hour or two looking at corgis instead >.> Forgot what slytherin was.

Yeah, i think the only reason i knitted my own scarf instead of buying one was because i was cheap, lol.

Hey, some people like rats ^^ Maybe he did, and he decided to be one so that he could be useful to his friends. Although I wouldn't, for sure.

So it seems more like you're right, it's a reflection of you. Would Rita Skeeter's patronus be a beetle? How incredibly useless... But I do remember that Snape's patronus form changed into a doe, and he showed Dumbledore that and that's how Dumbles knew he loved her, just like Tonks with her wolf patronus. So evidently your patronus changes when you love someone, but how would that affect your animal form...? Would Snape turn into a female deer, instead of whatever he would originally have become? Now I'm very curious.

And was this what you wanted? [link]

Haha Yay! Yes that was what i was looking for! i can't believe i never saved it, thank you so much for showing it to me again C:

I like rats too, i just wouldn't wanna be one D: I'm sure a rat patronus would be just as useful as a beetle one. Though Snape turning into a female deer is both amusing and frightening. Maybe a stag? >.> And about Tonks too, i forgot about her patronus. hmmm. I wouldn't want my animgus form to be a werewolf either; can an animagus turn into a magical creature? I think Dumbledore's patronus was a phoenix. >.< Ewwww, bad fanfic thought: DumbledoreXFawkes. Maybe the link between patronus and animagus isn't as deep as i thought, lol.

A) You're right, that is a bad fanfiction thought.
B) Now it's rooted in my brain. See, maybe Fawkes is actually not a true phoenix but an animagus who stays in that form all the time ^^ Or who got trapped there somehow (like the Animorphs ) Or is a reverse animagus, so he's a magical creature who can take a human form.
I take it back, it's a great idea

But yeah, I think maybe I wouldn't want to think about this link too hard. It says really strange things about Snape's character, if your animagus and patronus are both a reflection of that same inner part of yourself. I don't want to think about Snape going through an internal gender change...

Until you pointed that out about Dumbledore, though, I'd forgotten about his patronus being a phoenix... I was always under the impression there weren't any magical creature ones. Now I can have hope for the patronus I wanted to have: a thestral (Right, like I'm going to pick up a wand and summon a patronus one day...)

oh god, now i wish i was a writer so i could write this horribly wonderful fanfic. >.< Though i do totally dig the Fawkes as a magical Tobias idea. Have you heard that Scholastic is planning to rerelease the Animorphs series? Gotta get that for my little brother if they do...

Yeah, i think Snape would be indignant if he even knew we were discussing him turning female, much less if he actually did. Let's let the man rest in peace.

I thought so too until JKR confirmed his patronus was a phoenix. I prefer the Chinese dragon myself (you know, snake-like, but more than a snake, lol). Man, i love Slytherin house way too much.

I actually fell away from the series before it ended sometime in high school, but I've been thinking about it for some reason recently... as evidenced by mentioning Animorphs just here A reprint would be pretty sweet...

And all I have to say about your Chinese dragon patronus is that you would have to be some kind of super special to have one Harry's the Chosen One and even he only gets a stupid deer ^^

smercurial In reply to Ankh-Ascendant [2011-10-16 15:54:07 +0000 UTC]

Ah, i didn't finish the series either; i want to, but it's been really hard to find the books (my library has a few but not all) If a reprint came out, i'd finally get to finish it, and probably bond with my brother by reading it together!

Yeah, i know T__T. Dumbledore got a phoenix, but he had to be all super strong brilliant wise wizard. I'm fine with a snake for now. And maybe, as i grow older and wiser, it'll gain more... dragon-ish qualities, haha. (but the deer was special to his father. And i think Rowling made it a point to portray Harry as a normal human being, even if he was the chosen one)
