Description Graphite of horse scratching its face on its knee. The reflections of light on this piece were quite intriguing as well as the posture. This was one of those done in the sketch book just chilling on the heating pad waiting for better living through chemistry to kick in, as I so often am. Took about an hour maybe. Hard to say. Many interruptions during the process - either cats attempting to walk across it or hubby calling but somewhere in that range. Used 2B, 4B and 8B Woodless Graphite pencils which I find tend to lay on darker than other pencils in the same classification ranges. They are nice because although they don't give you much of a point without really wasting a lot, the surface area is much greater when turning them on their side and shading in that way. A light outline was drawn first using a .05 mechanical pencil, affording much greater control to get the general shape, as well as for a couple of small spots that lack of point wouldn't give me much room to work.

I STILL cannot find who snapped the reference from which I worked. PLEASE, if the pic is yours, send me a note and I will update the information immediately. Don't know why I am not seeing in my faves - my apologies and I will rectify it as soon as I can.
