Description

AngelOfChange and I started writing a cool little pseudo-medieval style universe after seeing Dungeons & Dragons. I was complaining that no one in my friend group likes medieval-style roleplay, even when it is fudged like World of Warcraft, with cool mounts and things like guns or maybe steampunk stuff. I personally love that setting and I have many a character concept just sitting around waiting for the opportunity to shine. This lovely lady was one of them.

Fox is a Halfling- her father was a human with lycanthropy and her mother was a gnoll. We're not totally following the rules of DnD so I fudged this a lot but, for some reason, despite being half-hyena, she took on the appearance of an African Wild Dog and inherited her dad's ability to shapeshift into a giant 12 ft African Wild Dog rather than a large hyena. I like to think that it's because her dad was a canine, she took after him but still had some hyena influence, I dunno man. I just wanted an African Wild Dog character, okay? x3 I managed to figure out a basic design for her in terms of colors and markings and have since fallen in absolute love with her. She's just my type, you all know this by now.

She has some serious brain damage and does not know why, she wakes up to find that her entire life up until this point was a dream, a fantasy, a lie and everything that she thought she knew, thought she lived through, was just not true. She does not know who her real family is, who her real parents were. But her twin sister, who went looking for her, finds her and lets her move in with her and her husband in a major human city in the Kingdom of Outwitch. She's not there long before the massive change in scenery causes her to lose control and she accidentally kills her sister. Her husband Valor is thankfully the sympathetic type and is not mad at Fox for the murder, his wife shifted in a rage sometimes as well and he has scars to prove it. He has long learned to accept that werewolves cannot control themselves when they freak out, but he does not know or love Fox in any way so he starts to prepare to find her home clan and to send her back to live with them. But with her sister dead and her memories defunct, Valor is having one heck of a time trying to figure out where this strange halfling came from, his wife never mentioned their birth clan, just as Fox was dreaming/lying to herself, so was her sister. Her writings on the matter are rubbish and impossible to follow. So he takes Fox to the market for some supplies and introduces her to the local blacksmith, a dragon named Cyrath.

Cyrath is actually the one that names her Fox. Valor and his wife used her birth name Arka but she did not recognize it at all so Valor ends up dropping the name and using the one she actually responds to, which is Fox. No, not the animal. Cyrath thought she was hella attractive when they met,it was just a pet name at first. But it's become her primary calling now.

She supposedly spent some time as a slave so the collar was fitted to her sometime during that part of her life. It's enchanted so no one can take it off of her except for the mage that made it, and when someone touches or holds the chain in their hands, they gain complete control over Fox and her behaviors, she immediately feels compelled to obey that person and can talk to them telepathically as long as they don't break contact with the chain. Generally, Cyrath is the one with the chain, she gets very used to him giving her commands. She's about as smart as a piss stain on the sidewalk, she's an absolute clueless idiotic dumbfuck (which has nothing to do with her brain damage btw, not trying to say that people with traumatic brain injuries are all idiots, she's lived her life as a savage gnoll, nobody taught her how to add and subtract or proper etiquette at meals and so on, and she is just a slow learner so even if she did go to school she's just not smart, she'd be a horrible student) and probably likes to be controlled to some degree, since she is regularly wrong in the decisions she makes. But don't let her know that I told you that. That's supposed to be a secret. Anyway, the story starts with the gathering of a crew to travel to first get the collar off and then help Fox get home finally. But many complications arise and she ends up finding her home in the little band of mercenaries she builds along the way. They come together and overthrow the corrupt King of Outwitch, restoring the kingdom to peace and proving that Beastfolk are nothing to be scared of, and can actually be heroes, which is a new way of thinking for humans, especially when regarding gnolls as generally they just rape and ransack and what not. After hearing about their accomplishments, Fox's birth parents do come and find her and try to take her back home for their own purposes but Fox does not go with them. She chooses to stay with her new family, a new life, the people who built her up from nothing, and they end up kind of liking her too somehow, especially Cyrath. How exactly I do not know but they do and they want to help her. Which she is grateful for but has no idea how to say it. Not only is she lacking in common sense but she has no manners or anything either, no filter. So she complains more than she appreciates people. But that's just Fox for ya,she has two moods- "I'm going to kill you now" and "I'm going to kill you later". There is no time for fluff like gratitude and what not, they have dungeons to raid.

So yeah, this is Fox. She is a Barbarian and is absolutely vicious in battle. I deliberately tried tomake her seem buff and muscular so...that's always a challenge with female characters. But yeah she can knock the teeth out of your mouth with one swing. VERY very proficient fighter and absolutely a monster on the battlefield. Everywhere else though, she is completely clueless. She can track and navigate nature pretty well, but inside of cities or structures, or if you ask her for advice or to make a plan, she's absolutely useless. All she does is eat, sleep and fight so...not much else to her. Or so sheΒ  seems to tell people. x3

This is a lot to read so let me shut up.
