Description
The goal was to create an image, using Illustrator's Gradient Mesh tool, and to have it all done with a single solid Mesh unit. So this entire image is actually just One object!.You can see some stages from the work process here [link]

I've tried to stay true to the original ref-photo and yet, the gradient mesh has it's weird effect on the outcome.

Well the Mesh tool is truly worth trying. The technique has very few basic principles to it. After you're on to them, all that's left is finding A LOT of spare time, praying for a faster computer, getting used to seeing spooky vector points in everything you look at, and having repeated dreams about annoying un adjustable curves...
