This small number of species makes the Southeastern United States an ecosystem in need of restoration. This is where the Primitive Pasture comes in. The proposed 1,214 square mile nature preserve in Arkansas aims to re-create the ice age grasslands that once thrived in the area during the last glacial period. The project will partner with the Southeastern Grasslands Institute, an organization dedicated to the restoration and conservation of grasslands in the region.
