Description
The first origin prompt on the list (second one that I've completed for Skoo'nao) for my new baby, Skoo'nao, completed. I originally had no bones in the image, but realized that that wouldn't work as her original form is an orca's bones, so I drew in some bones (like 2 months later) and finally finished it. I hate past snini for the pose of the calf. It made the bones so much harder to do xDFeatured in this artwork is two real whales, J3 Merlin (male in the bottom left) and J2 Granny (Headshot in the upper right) of the critically endangered Southern Resident Killer Whale Community.
J2 Granny was mother of J12 Sissy and was grandmother of J14 Samish and J24 Canuck. She was great grandmother of J23 Capricorn, J30 Riptide, J37 Hy'Shqa, J40 Suttles, J43 , J45 Se-Yi-Chn, and J55, as well as great great grandmother of J49 T'ílem I'nges. She died in 2016 at the estimated age of 105. J1 Ruffles was presumed to have been her son, but genetic testing showed otherwise. Ruffles’ real mother was L45 Astrix.
J3 Merlin was son of J7 Sucia was brother J16 Slick and uncle of J26 Mike, J33 Keet, J36 Alki, J42 Echo, J48, J50 Scarlet, and J52 Sonic. He died in 1995 at 42 years old.

--Add on story--
Waves of noise swirl around me. Low deep rumbles, high earnest screams, ever deafening vibrations that fill every hour of my life. Then one as familiar as the air in my lungs, as comforting as the touch of my mother against me. The song of my family, my pod, my clan, wrapping around me like a soft current. My mother, always patient, gently leads me to the gathering, the sounds of my family in my ears. The swooping calls of my pod, the mewing calls of K pod, the strong calls of L pod all wrap around me, filling my mind with images and pictures of things I can not begin to imagine. Sounds of excitement, pleasure, joy, pain, sorrow, remembrance. The clan moves together, fins slapping against the surface, bodies exploding upwards in great shows of strength and joy as they come splashing back into our noise filled home. The sounds of scales and bones crunching under strong jaws, of larger whales, far far away, of birds screaming above us in the life giving air. These are my sounds. The sounds that I will grow up hearing. That my family has grown up hearing. That I have heard since I took my first life giving breath. My older sister returns to our mothers side, sliding her body against hers before gently brushing me with the tip of her pectoral fin and turning, darting after some of the older females to play. Our world isn't quiet, like many believe. Out world is filled with sound. Sounds as calming as the tough of my pod. Sounds as natural as the kelp with which I have been so enamored. But with the good comes the bad. The noises that make my entire family flee. The long, loud, sharp cries of motors. The stories are told of bangs and thevery. Of calves stolen from their mothers protection, of young ones like me drowning in their nets. We have been lucky. We have avoided capture, out witted those who wish to bring us harm. Despite our continued evasion, my mother is still ever watchful, making sure that I and my sister are never more than a few body lengths away from any members of the pod at all times. For now, I'll stay close to my mother, following in her slip stream as we travel, the songs of the elders and the whispers of the currents entwining into a song that I will never forget. A song that runs through my bones. A song that runs in my blood. The song of freedom.
