I have a headcanon theory that since Danny Fenton/Phantom wanted to be an astronaut, Dark Danny, or Dan Phantom, wanted to be a pirate, since it does seem to suit his personality more now. The fact that he has a monkey named Jack just makes it all the more convincing.
