Description
This is my final project for my drawing class last semester. The prompt was to create something based on the year of 2020, the crazy pandemic year as we all know. I wanted to make something beautiful that had a deep meaning. So, I used symbolism and flower language to create this beautiful scene. On the surface, you wouldn't know it had any negative things in it. Once you know what everything stands for however, you will see things quite differently.

The flowers from left to right are as follows:
Tiger Lilly - anger
Heleniums - tears
Daffodils - loneliness
Black Dahlia - death
Amaranth - hopelessness

The Oak tree is a symbol of strength, and the butterflies landing on the girl's fingers are symbols of hope.

So, here is my final explanation for this piece: Even though the girl is surrounded by all these negative emotions and attitudes, she has strength and hope because of her faith and knows that the path will eventually change for the better (as you can see the empty fields far ahead of her).
