John is a fairly serious individual with very little patience for the eccentricities of others. He is not above employing sarcasm in conversation with certain people, particularly those he sees being hypocritical. He remains wholly faithful to his closest friends, and will go out of his way to save, or simply assist, women. He will defend his friends to the grave, and is much more touchy when his friends are poked fun at than he is when his own insecurities are brought up.

While he originally harbored some anger towards her when Arthur chose her to be the new leader over himself, he has now gotten over it and follows her every command. While a lot of their interactions are playful banter, John looks up to Jessie like an older brother and does a lot of shadowing of him most of the time.
