If there was any performance to be nervous about the third and final appeal was it. Hunter had amazing balance and had shown a knack for surfing during the triathlon but he had never actually properly surfed before. They had tested this a few times leading up to the contest before, of course, but he and Rainbow were only able to get it about half of the time. Hopefully he wouldn’t wipe out on stage. Having such a small area to get such a large wave onto seemed a bit intimidating. But now was no time for second guessing. The first two appeals had gone wonderfully and this one was going to go just as smoothly. And if it didn’t, well, they were still having fun. Wasn’t that what this was all about anyway?

It had taken a bit longer to set up for this appeal, all the sand having to be poured onto the stage causing the time between appeals to stretch on for a bit longer than usual. This did however give the pair plenty of time to get suited up for the last appeal. Head to toe in beachwear and carrying a surfboard Hunter was primed and ready for the last theme. With the last theme being the heat is on and centered on beating the heat there was only one answer for what he and Rainbow were doing. They were going surfing.

The last green light of the contest signaled to the two of them it was time to head onto stage and Hunter gave Rainbow a thumbs up which she mirrored before they excitedly ran out onto the stage. They hit the sand excitedly, Hunter pausing halfway across the stage as he realized there was no water. He gave an over exaggerated surprised expression, looking back at Rainbow in confusion. Rainbow mimicked his surprise, bringing a hand over her eyes as she searched around the stage for the water. It seemed there was none to be found. Hunter turned away from her to continue looking, leaving the simipour to think. After a moment of contemplation she snapped her fingers as an idea came to mind.

Rainbow used Water Sport with a swish of her tail and suddenly the ground erupted with small geysers. The water flooded the area, pooling up in the sand until it was nearly ankle height on Hunter. He splashed over to her excitedly, holding up his surfboard to wordlessly convey their next plan of action. Rainbow nodded in agreement, waiting for Hunter to toss his surfboard into the water and get on top of it before using Surf.

The water around their feet swirled into a whirlpool before surging up behind them into a large wave. It scooped the two up easily, Hunter balancing on his surfboard and Rainbow on her own board made of water. Hunter wobbled a bit as the wave caught him but soon managed to regain his balance, dipping his hand into the wave to create a splash of water as he rode through it. Rainbow decided to show off a bit, she was here to become a star after all. As the wave neared the end of the stage she flipped onto her hands, winking at the crowd as she performed a handstand on her surfboard. The wave crashed down shortly after, splashing water everywhere as the two landed in the sand center stage.

Hunter hopped off his board to keep himself from toppling over and Rainbow performed a quick cartwheel to upright herself next to him. The two linked hands, facing the crowd before giving one final bow. The contest was over now and whatever the results may be Hunter was happy he had come. He may have not understood the appeal of this before but now that he had done it there wasn’t a single regret in his mind he wouldn’t try it again one day.
