I didn't even have it when it came out.
But when I played the demo, I chose random and they gave me Nick: I still find that that doesn't count for first-time playing, you know.
When I did actually get the game (not the demo, mind-you), I played as Ellis and I always just stopped my zombie killing just to listen to his stories. C:

I think Ellis also mentioned a story where Keith drowned. He's been burned, bombed, fell under a riding mower, AND he's also drowned. Chicago Ted is probably just Keith's alter ego because "Keith" sounded too plain for an epic zombie killing machine. ;D

...For some reason, this reminds me of the time when I was younger and Super Smash Brothers Melee was the only games out (next to Super Smash Bros.) and I had this liking for one of the characters from Fire Emblem whose name was Roy.
...So I never picked him when my brother was playing with me.
I felt a little odd because if I chose Roy, then my brother would probably suspect something. <.<
