Description 1. Nancy's Friendship Faux Pas

Writers: Sarah Katin & Trower Shuman

Date: April 15, 2019

Synopsis: "Nancy is jealous of Bree and Megan's friendship."

Emotion is definitely a good part of what makes the show work, as demonstrated here. This episode involves Bree's summer camp friend Megan coming for a visit. Nancy tries everything she can to make her feel welcome, but feels left out when Bree and Megan keep inadvertently ignoring her when doing activities together. She tries to make sure she doesn't lose Bree as her best friend. If there's one thing I can praise the episode for, its the heart. This episode has a nice little moral on not letting your feelings cloud your judgement, and how it's possible to have more than one beat friend. Using Nancy and Bree for this moral works pretty well. One of Nancy's major insecurities involves fear of not being included in social groups. She always wants to be sure of the bond she has with others. To her credit, she at least tries hiding her feelings to show that she's at least trying to make herself look like she's integrated, and we see more development from her since, while they do dirty activities, she doesn't mind them, and is more concerned about spending time with Bree. Bree may be inadvertently ignoring her, but she does bring up a good point on how Megan traveled a long way to see them both, and at least gives Nancy times to cool off. I also like Megan's energy and spunk, particularly with her tomboy tendencies like egg tossing and frog catching. Let's talk about the ending . Nancy confessed her feelings and they all hang out together. That's really nice.

2. Nancy's Parcel Purrrsuit

Writers: Sarah Katin & Trower Shuman

Date: April 15, 2019

Synopsis: "Nancy wants to be seen as a hero."

What does it mean to be a hero? Well, turn to Fancy Nancy for the answer. This episode involves Gus' kitten Parcel going missing, and he asks Nancy and company to help her. Nancy wants to be seen as a hero by finding her by herself, and she sends everyone on a wild goose chase to accomplish this while she tries getting her down from a tree. This episode goes for a nice moral on how being a true hero is about doing the right thing not for accolades, but for the sake of being a good person and making others happy. Nancy best shows off this moral. Her greatest flaw is her ego. She always wants some kind of accolades to be seen as special , and she likes showing it off . Why is she still likable? She has standards. She sends her friends in a wild goose chase, but only to look at other nearby backyards, not the outskirts of town. This helps show that she doesn't want to hurt her friends, but just isn't thinking straight and won't let them share the credit. The second half of the episode showcases it well. Bree confronts her for not asking them to help and for putting Parcel's safety second . They then see Parcel in trouble, and help her out. When Gus come back, Nancy says how they all helped find her, which pleases them. It's a nice ending.
