1. Kermit and Fozzie's Eggcellent AdventureWriter: Max Beaudry
Director: Jeremy Jensen
Date: March 26, 2021
Synopsis: "It's Easter, and Kermit and Fozzie team up for a fun egg hunt! "
Here's an episode best described as eggciting. Joking aside, let's talk about it. The episode involves an Easter egg hunt. Kermit and Fozzie team up to increase their chances of winning, but the latter keeps going too fast. This episode has a good message on not rushing into things. Let's talk about the episode in halves.
First Half:
We start with everyone getting ready for an Easter egg hunt. Since Kermit hasn't won any, Fozzie decides to team up with him to help out. That's a good starting point. They make a great team because of how Kermit leads and thinks ahead while Fozzie provides moral support.
The eggs are being hidden by Statler and Waldorf, who are excited to take part. To be fair, the egg hunt us shown to be pretty fun. As the egg hunt starts, we see that things need working out though. Fozzie is someone who tends to act before thinking straight. He tries getting the egg immediately upon seeing it, but Kermit thinks they need a plan. He is right since Fozzie ends up stuck in the mud and getting stuck on top of a castle. The other teams get the eggs before them (Summer and Animal for the former and Gonzo and Piggy for the latter). It's an "opposites attract" dynamic that works. Fozzie is shown to have genuinely good intentions in wanting to help Kermit. However, when he focuses too much on a goal, he tends to think just about that and less about getting there. He's not acting dumb, but just acting more on his emotion. This contrasts with Kermit, where he tends to be more of a planner. He's someone who tends to be more careful when taking risks. He's not a stick in the mud though given that he just wants to have fun without making anyone feel bad. However, he is at least considerate of Fozzie's feelings much like how Fozzie tries helping him win to make him feel better.
Second Half:
Now how does the second half unfold? Well, one more place they go to is in an underwater chasm. Kermit pilots the submarine slowly, but Fozzie thinks this is taking too long and he goes really fast, causing them to land in a bubble geyser that shoots them out. It's here where Kermit says that he doesn't want to play anymore. That is pretty sad. Kermit says no to his best friend, yet does so in a way that he calls out Fozzie in a firm yet gentle manner. Fozzie feels bad, and he talks about this to Ms. Nanny. She then tells him not to rush into things since you sometimes need to take time to really have fun. He then apologizes to Kermit and they go back to the hunt.
We then get a montage of the two of them carefully yet creatively getting the eggs, which are all pretty fun. When checking the results, it seems like everyone got the same amount of eggs. There's one more egg in the treehouse, which Fozzie and Kermit manage to get. How was that done? He uses the merry go round to carefully throw Kermit to the treehouse, and he grabs it. That's awesome. They then win a chocolate egg that they share with everyone else. That's pretty eggciting.
2. Animal and the Little Accident
Writer: Ghia Godfree
Director: Guy Moore
Date: March 26, 2021
Synopsis: "When the Muppet Babies are off to find the legendary lost city of Ratlantis, Animal doesn't want to miss a thing!"
Here's what isn't an accident, this episode. Let's talk about it. This episode has everyone wanting to check out the lost city of Ratlantis. However, Animal has to go to the bathroom, and he tries hiding it. The episode has a nice moral on how you shouldn't be afraid to take a break when you need to, and that the fun will still be there. Let's talk about the episode in two halves.
First Half:
We start with Ms. Nanny telling everyone about the lost city of Atlantis. Animal is drinking some water while listening, and he insists that he doesn't want to go to the bathroom. Rizzo mentions liking the story, but that it's about Ratlantis. Everyone then decides to go, but Animal still doesn't want to go to the bathroom. So, Animal is being pretty stubborn about not going. Considering how he's kind of rebellious and immature, it stands to reason that he would try to hold it in and not be seen as weak.
As everyone gets ready, he really does have to go to the bathroom, but they finish up and immediately head out. He's told to steer the submarine, which he tries, but when water drips into a pail, it becomes difficult. He's about to go, but then he sees a whale and just tries holding it in so he can watch. It doesn't work, and he again tries holding it in, but has to navigate around a sleeping squid (voiced by Dee Bradley Baker). The thing about Animal is that he doesn't have the best common sense. While he's not dumb, he does tend to want to do things that are fun rather than do things for his own health. As such, he brought this to himself yet you still feel bad for him. Plus, we get some comments from Kermit and Summer asking if he needs to go, so no one acts oblivious.
Second Half:
The second half is where things become unbearable for him. As they keep going, Animal once again tries to go to the bathroom, but he can't resist hearing Fozzie's joke. As they're nearing Ratlantis, Gonzo goes to the bathroom. This makes Animal flip out and he turns the submarine back to the playroom. That is pretty crazy, but considering that he's acting on a wild side, which he's known for, it's no surprise.
Unfortunately, he doesn't get to the bathroom in time and he has an accident (off screen of course). He feels sad for ruining things for everyone. Ms. Nanny then comes in and says it's okay to stop the fun a bit when taking care of yourself, like with going to the bathroom. He then gets clean clothes, feeling all better, goes to Ratlantis with everyone. It's pretty solid.
