Description
1. The Fastest FlierWriter: Nikki Lytton
Date: February 21, 2020
Synopsis: "Ava tries slowing down ."
If Ava's flying skills were proportionate to the quality of the episode on a scale of 1-10, then this episode gets a 10. Let's talk about it. This episode has Ava wanting to be the fastest flier at TOTS when her record is broken. When she's tasked with delivering a baby frog named Flora (who I assume is voiced by Charlie Townsend), she decides to reclaim her record by delivering her quickly. Pip and Freddy try getting her to slow down a bit during some baby mishaps. This episode gives a good message on how being the fastest is not as important as doing your job . I like the fact that it focuses on Ava. When it comes to being fast, she's very headstrong and impulsive. Most notably, when leaving for the first time, she accidentally switched her baby crate with JP's. The second time, when in a flower field, she doesn't notice Flora hopping off on her own before she took off . However, the episode makes sure to emphasize her caring side. She shows immediate concern when she realizes she left Flora, showing that, while she wants to be the best, she still makes sure to adhere to what's most important, making babies happy with their families. The ending best shows this. Flora keeps slipping up, and she gives up. After taking time to stop and smell the flowers, she becomes more relaxed and more invigorated to deliver Flora regardless of speed record. She learns to slow down, making this satisfying.
2. Best Friends Wherever
Writer: Becky Friedman
Date: February 21, 2020
Synopsis: "Mia must say goodbye to a friend."
Here's an episode best described as lovely. This episode involves Mia not wanting to say goodbye to her friend, a cow named Chloe (voiced by Francesca Lombardo) . Pip and Freddy have to deliver her to her parents (voiced by Christian Lanz and Melanie Minichino), and try to get Mia to realize that Chloe needs to leave. To add onto that, they have to get Mia home for her bedtime story. This episode is all about how you can still be friends with someone even when they're faraway. What helps make the episode is Mia and Chloe's friendship. I should talk about Mia first. She's surprisingly very sneaky and crafty. She's able to set up a diversion to slow down the adoption by putting in a toy cow. Also, during the playtime later on, she keeps playing with the timer to extend it. Chloe is also shown to mainly just follow what she does. Despite that, she's shown to genuinely like Chloe and vice versa. They're both very fun and playful, and their attempts to stay together come more from them not knowing much about the wide world. What do I mean? Well, let me explain the ending. Captain Beakman calls Pip and Freddy on The Flypad to see if she's back yet. They realize that Mia and Chloe can still talk to each other through the Flypad. That's a pretty good resolution.
