A piece I had shown wips of on my Instagram .
Also on Tumblr .
Materials:
Strathmore cold press watercolor paper, 300 series, 11x15in, 140lb
Winsor & Newton Cotman watercolors, 14pc brush pen set
Dr. Ph. Martin’s Hydrus fine art watercolors
The paper definitely isn’t the greatest and it buckles a lot with watercolor use. I want to try other papers, maybe thicker ones, but I have a whole pad of this kind so I guess I’ll go through that first. I used the Winsor & Newton watercolors for the skin, and the rest was Ph. Martin’s. The latter is my favorite - they’re liquid watercolors and a little really does go a long way.
My scanner is too small for this and I’m not patient enough to scan it in pieces. I took a picture of it in the sun (by my window lol) with a digital camera and touched it up in Photoshop. My PS skills are still at newbie level… I want to get better at that for any bigger pieces I make in the future. Usually I draw really small.
