Description My (rough) copy of a cover by John Buscema. Just trying it on to see how it fits.  His original cover here en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Sil… As with Kubert and Frazetta, Hoffman and others, the subject matter and style speak to me.  I get a "feel" for how to do it.  Specifically, it's a feel for how I can do it, which doesn't mean that's the way it was done.  Frequently, when I get that feeling, I also get a sudden urge to test it.  That happened here.  Did it on an impulse, no planning (duh - as if you couldn't tell).  Went straight to the meat and didn't bother cleaning up (my bad).  Ain't polished pretty, but everything works.  I can see how spending more time would pay off.

I was reading up some more on John Buscema and came across an interview in which he was asked for his views on comics.  He said he was no longer impressed by anything in them, not even by the masters, though he gave props to Roy Crane, Hal Foster, Alex Raymond.  But, basically, he said, he'd just been in it too long to be rocked by anyone currently working.  Then he made a reference to Joe Kubert's Tarzan.  He really liked Tarzan and utterly respected Kubert.  They didn't rock him, but he really liked them.  No point.  Just making conversation.  XD
