SOLANNE'S ART DIARY - WORKING ART MONTHLY NEWSLETTER.

What began in 2021 using Revue, I publish a monthly newsletter onto Tumblr sharing various art-related news as to what I'm up to! Such contents include upcoming illustrations, behind the scenes looks of developing Illustration Series, photos of my sketchbooks, and even fully-drawn Paracosm Snippet comic pages!! I've always loved the idea of sharing what I'm up to with my followers, along with teasing what exciting things this strange Brainne of mine is brewing! So I've decided to share the cover pieces I do for my newsletters onto DeviantArt for your viewing pleasure! Truly, they best encapsulate the pureness of my whacky imagination and all of the things I love bundled into each cover piece.

At the time I made this, I was experiencing some serious Yakuza indoctrination from my kohai Nichollas, whos a fellow yumejoshi and adores Majima! ♥ He grew on me IMMENSELY, and now Majima hangs around as sort of like a family-friend within the OOU. More specifically, he gives me ENERGY DRINKS!!! YEAHOO!!!

With it being Lunar New Year also, I wanted to incorporate some of my Thai heritage in it by adorning all of us in chut thai! I never celebrated Lunar New Year growing up, or really had a strong connection to my Thai heritage sadly, so this is my way of celebrating Lunar New Year. I'd love to wear one someday!

Now one thing you'll notice is the growing complexity of rendering with each cover piece. Originally, I had intended to just do flat colors (before I realize how much ink doing pure flats with markers takes out, EUGH), as shown here, but each time I couldn't help but be a little more extra, both with composition and background. Hope you look forward to it!

SUPPLIES AND CREDITS.

SKETCHBOOK: ILLUSTRATION DIARY SQUARED (Ohuhu hardcover marker sketchbook, 8.3x8.3).

MEDIUM/TOOLS: TOOLI-ART FINELINERS (0.6 width), COPIC alcohol markers (brush nib) and Arteza Everblend alcohol markers (bullet nib). Touch-ups made using Clip Studio Paint Pro.
