This... took a lot of time. I rewatched Orenji no Furou Jijo and suddenly felt like drawing a merman of my own...Unfortunately I used a version of sai that had hardly ANY brushes... including the necessary blend brush, so I had a hell of a time. I was pretty much confined to the standard pen for the purpose of colouring... well, for everything, really. But even though it was super tedious refining everything, I have to say I'm really glad 'cause like... I didn't use a reference except once, to review how the arms are best shaded. Given anatomy is by no degree my strong point, I'm... really happy.
Anyway! So here he is, Xenus, or Xen for short.

I love the colours combination on his hair, it really gives that sea/mermaid/underwater light vibe. Also, itΒ΄s nice that violet-green combo appears on his tail too, I think that it suits him and that itΒ΄s a good colour combination for any part of maemaid.
