After Sonic and co. found The Island Rings in Night Waterfall Act 2, He tried one of them on, and the entire zone was inverted around where the mountains, waterfalls, and the sky were a different color than the actual Act 2. Sonic is upside down instead of normal. With the rest of the zone different from this, a part of the zone with sonic uses The Island Rings to go through Act 2.
