Description
Sophie: well, looks like we found the Lythian Guardian of Ice!Sparx: cool! so ya happen to know where is this shrine? some Llama boss went over to there and I believe that's where Cyril's being held captive.
Crystal: just so you know, I've been looking for Cyril myself, but the problem is, the apes and dreadwings are like, Everywhere, picking off Atlawa or whatever they're called they can find. -.- besides, I heard from a couple of the natives here that their shrine god's super pissed off, making it impossible to get anywhere near it.
Spyro: Shrine God?
(a male voice came from behind Crystal)
???: our guardian deity of Tall Plains.
(who to enter but a brown colored Atlawa.)
Atlawa: You three...you must've been sent to rescue this ice dragon, right?
Spyro: that's right. we're trying to make our way to this shrine Cyril's being held.
Atlawa: I'm certain you've met our chief. ever since Cynder and her forces came here, the god of the shrine became very angered so much that its impossible for us to approach him. Kane is irritable under stressful situations, and can be stubborn and rude sometimes. and me and my people are currently in hiding. so please forgive his behavior. my name is Beathan by the way, I'm Kane's advisor.
Spyro: I'm Spyro.
Sophie: the name's Sophie.
Sparx: and I'm the reliable sidekick, Sparx.
Beathan: well, Spyro, Sophie, Sparx, and of course, Crystal, since you are searching for Kane and your dragon friend, I will tell you all you need to know if you want to make it to the shrine.
Spyro: Okay, we're listening!
Crystal: -.O
Beathan: Very well... the God of the Shrine is the Stone Sentinel.
The Sentinel is, at the core, a powerful earth spirit with influence on the seasons and agricultural growth periods throughout the continent of Tall Plains. It has been around as long as the ancient atlawa people, living isolated enough from them to have privacy, but close enough that he can be reached and approached. When he and the atlawa first made contact, they were infatuated with him and his ability to gift fertility to the fruit-bearing plants and trees.
They saw him as a protector, and the Sentinel came to like the atlawa and treasure their admiration of him.
In return for their natural love, he happily brought more fertility to the plant life, which in turn made animals more abundant, too. This is why much of the people's stone carvings resemble him in some way, facially or otherwise, as a way to thank him, and as a symbol of protection over their homes and societies.
The atlawa still worship the Great Creator first and foremost, but have a living friendship and natural connection to the Sentinel.
Sophie: that'd make this Sentinel a god of nature or something.
Beathan: yes, many refer to him as a deity of nature. Being a god of fertility and balance, the Sentinel himself occasionally births new spirits and allows them to run throughout Tall Plains.
Like him, each spirit amasses littered rocks and tree remains, fusing them together and becoming part of the material.
Typically, rubble brutes merely wander around and drive away evil spirits, also helping maintain balance in the land.
They avoid the atlawa for the most part staying out of sight if they can help it simply for fear of enticing them to chase them or make poor decisions. But should anyone see them, they remain casual, and often try to calmly walk away. There are stories of some rubble brutes showing a kindness to children, either leaving them little gifts like flowers, fruit or gems in quiet, or even helping guide lost children back to their villages.
Some stories even tell of rubble brutes who get attached to villages defending them from predatory animals, such as jaguars.
Sparx: yeah, but when we encountered those brutes, they were all trying to kill us instead of welcoming us with open arms and give us flowers. -.-
Beathan: as much as their actions can't be condoned, they couldn't be all the more justified. you see, When the Black Terror of the Skies came to Tall Plains, the chaos and evil she brought with her armies rattled the land, especially because of the disturbances caused to the Sentinel.
Having arrived after the capture of Dragon Guardian named Cyril, the corrupt dragoness chose the Shrine of the Sentinel as his holding cell. She fought the spirit, forcing him into submission and unexpectedly making him into a guard of her prisoner.
Sophie: the Black Terror of the Skies... that's definitely Cynder!
Beathan: Yes, Cynder's influence and fighting the Sentinel distressed him to the point of causing unbalance in the agricultural seasons, a main direct result of his pain and anger over the invasion, and the disturbance to his mind on account of the evil.
After centuries of peace and sameness in his home, evil suddenly ran rampant, and everything good suddenly became bad.
His understanding of everything became twisted.
Without meaning to, the Sentinel brought only more suffering to Tall Plains through his own misery.
He grew hostile, and so did his offspring.
We, The natives stopped praising and giving him gifts or talking to him, simply because we were so occupied with trying to survive the sudden invasion of our homeland. And as we paid less attention to him, he grew more aggressive and lonely.
Spyro: is that why those brutes were attacking us earlier?
Beathan: that's right. their hostility comes from the Stone Sentinel's anger and fear of her.
It's a wonder he didn't attack her after his loss, but it's probable to assume he was also overwhelmed and alarmed by the evil in her.
Spyro: have you or anyone else try to visit him?
Beathan: A rare select few attempted to visit him, myself included. but we were sent fleeing in fear at the sight of his rage.
For a great part of the ten years he spent isolated in his home, the Sentinel slept, and even his bad dreams affected everything. The rubble brutes became feral, confusing ape and atlawa alike, attacking either on the spot.
The swinging log traps we used to ward away predators became a weapon against apes, and now, brutes. with Cynder and her forces occupying our home, there is no hope left.
Crystal: Ughhh...can you not say those things? -.- you're already making me depressed.
Spyro: Crystal's right! its true, that with Cynder and her goons here, peace can't return to this island. but no one said we can't try.
Beathan: What are you saying, Spyro?
Sparx: what we're saying is that we're gonna kick Cynder's forces out of here, and make this Stone Sentinel chill out. oh, and save Cyril as well.
Crystal: So you're saying you're gonna go straight to the stone sentinel, and try to pacify him and save this land and rescue Cyril.
Sophie: Yep!
Crystal: (sighs) obviously this place is swarming with apes. but since you three are kids, you might as well need the help of the charming Guardian of Ice.
(to Beathan) which way do we go?
Beathan: over the cliffside. there is a door which only the chief of the Atlawa can open. there, you will see a floating ship that goes directly to the shrine.
Sparx: Okay, let's see if I can memorize it. Cliffside, a Locked Door, and a floating ship. yep, I got it.
Spyro: we'll do what we can. you can be sure of that.
Beathan: thank you, Spyro. the fate of Tall Plains rests in you. in all of you. I will remain with my people and ensure their safety.
(and with that, Spyro, Sophie, Sparx, who were now joined by Crystal, the Lythian Guardian of Ice, went further ahead through the hills. More Apes came down and attacked the team but they easily defeated them, and hurried towards where the Atlawa Chief Kane went and climbed to the side of the cliff to see him standing by a large stone door.)
Spyro: Kane!
Kane: huh? oh...its you again.
Sophie: told you we'd make it.
Sparx: Listen, chief, we know you're stressed out because of what Cynder did, but just let us do what we came here to do.
Kane: the Shrine God The Shrine God has not been appeased since Cynder’s forces came. He is NOT happy.
Crystal: yeah, we already heard that from your advisor a while ago. 7.7
Sparx: So, is anyone fun around here?
Kane: You can’t possibly face the God of the Shrine alone! even with all the power you have! (bashes on the door three times, making it open.)
Spyro: Not all of us are loners, Kane. I'm not going alone.
Sophie: he's got a point there, ya know.
Spyro. Maybe someday you’ll learn that two or more heads are better than one.
Sophie: even if some of 'em are pinheads. U~U
Sparx: Yeah! wait, What?
Crystal: so just let us do our thing. -.-
(the four soon approached the ship floating near a cliff.)
Sophie: that must be the ship.
Spyro: I'm not sure I like the looks of this thing...
Sparx: Oh, Now you tell me. -.-
Crystal: I'm really suspicious about this ship. better not let your guard down and be ready for anything.
(Kane enters as he decides to follow them)
Kane: Count me in too!
Spyro: You're coming with us?
Kane: of course! but only for the reason to help my people and save my home! its my duty as the Chief of the Atlawa!
Sparx: in that case, all aboard the ship!
(with Kane joining Spyro's party, they get on the ship. they were soon ambushed by the apes.)
Crystal: Ughhh!!! Just when we got on this ship! Ò~Ó
Spyro: you DID say be ready for anything, after all.
Kane: everyone! engage the enemy! (pulls out a wooden spear)
(while Kane was swinging his spear at a few apes, Spyro fought with his fire, electricity and ice elements and used his claws to drop some of the apes from the ship, one of them is heard doing the Wilhelm scream as he fell.)
Spyro: Take that!
Crystal: Ice Element: Winter Storm!
( Crystal used her Ice element to freeze the enemies to death, and using her icy bow and arrow to shoot at some of the apes from the air using her wings to fly. Sophie swung the Aether Sword at the enemies, while using fire and electricity elements to burn and zap them to death. one large ape charged at her from behind, but Sophie took notice, turned around kicked him in the nuts, making him let out a falsetto scream before she threw him off, as he fell backwards off the ship)
Sophie: Ò^Ó
Sparx: yeeouch! (peeks from his fingers) right in the batteries! >~O;
Spyro: Hoho, yeah!
Sophie: come and get some!
(then, there were 5 dreadwings flying above the ship, dropping bombs at their direction, but barely missing the ship. then, the dreadwings land, engaging the group of five. Crystal shot at one dreadwing with her bow and arrow, causing him to fall down to his death. Spyro unleashed a powerful ice stream at one dreadwing, freezing him to death, and the other, he burned him to death with his fire element. Sophie used the element of lightning to zap one dreadwing with a thunderbolt, and Kane dealt with the last one with his spear. but before the creature could fall, he grabbed Kane to make him fall down with him to death. Sophie and Spyro took notice and immediately went to catch Kane before he could fall off the ship. Spyro knocked down the dreadwing while Sophie grabbed the Atlawa chief's hand, and pull him back up while the dreadwing fell to his death.)
(several larger apes appeared surrounding the five. one of them focused their attention on Crystal.)
Ape Commader: hehe! if you're trying to rescue your dragon friend, Crystal, you're a little too late! his power was drained not too long ago, and now we're going to kill ya!
Crystal: like you'll stop me from kicking your asses straight to oblivion. I'll show you why they call me the Blue Blizzard!
Ape Commander: Get them!
(as the apes charge at them from all directions, Crystal spreads her white wings, lifts off to the air a little and creates a large swirling area of mist and snow, which erupted many enormous ice spikes up high until they fall and froze the enemies to death, showing the power of ice at its fullest potential, before the ice and snow evaporate once the enemies are gone. the Ship came to a halt as they reached the other side to where the Shrine was supposed to be, seeing a large temple entrance. )
Sparx: well, that was fun.
Spyro: is everyone okay?
Crystal: Yeah, I'm cool. other than the fact I need to regain my strength after using my most powerful ice attack. U.U
(the four get off the ship. Sophie turns back to Kane.)
Sophie: Aren't you coming?
Kane: I have to tend to my people who're either hiding and are being held prisoner. you go on ahead! I will wait for you near the bridge!
Spyro: okay, just be careful.
Kane: You too, Spyro!
(The Trio entered through an entrance passing through the ruins of the once great temple and encountered more Armadillos and Rubble Brutes, but Spyro and Sophie and Crystal defeated each one in the way. they moved on, evading traps along the way, until they came upon a clearing with a large wooden bridge crossing over to a large island, with the Atlawa Chief himself waiting for them by the bridge.)
Kane: well, I admit...you three did better than I thought possible. to think that strangers like you would be arriving on my land and people have been doing what I didn’t believe that no one but me could be doing. and I now owe you my very life in more ways than one.
Sparx: (chuckles) well, saying that had to hurt.
Kane: More than you can imagine. -.- there are some things you should know about the shrine before you enter...
Sophie: Uhhh... O.O'
Spyro: what is it, Sophie?
Sophie: Look over there! (points at the island's direction)
( they see a large black, winged figure emerging from the island. it was none other than Cynder herself, letting out a screeching roar and took to the sky carrying a blue orb in her claws.)
Sparx: And I think we're done here... O.O;
Spyro: Not before we rescue Cyril.
Crystal: (to Kane) So, you were saying?
Kane: the Atlawa Shrine has been desecrated. and the God of the shrine has not been given tribute since Cynder's forces arrived! but if you can subdue his anger, the balance will be returned, and my people can come home!
Spyro: That's fine, but we came to rescue Cyril!
Kane: you must go through the God of the Shrine to free him!
Crystal: yeah, remember what Beathan told us earlier about Cynder using him to keep Cyril captured? 7.7
Sparx: I knew you were gonna say that. yet another dreadful encounter is on the way for us. -.-
(the four took slow and steady steps across the bridge to reach the other side. with the knowledge of whatever that was just ahead was no doubt going to be fierce and they were going to have to do what it takes to free the Dragon Ice Guardian, Cyril.)
(once they crossed the bridge, they carefully climbed the massive steps till they reached the top and looked down to see an arena filled with some broken pillars and other brick work lying around with a giant boulder in the middle. Behind the boulder all the way in the back laying chained to a metal laying unconscious was an Icy Blue Dragon with light purple horns on his head and light purple wings.)
Sophie: There he is!
Spyro: Be careful, Sparx, Sophie. remember last time.
Sparx: I know, I know, but Cynder left and I don’t see any Ice Kings or Ghouls hanging around this place.
Sophie: you're thinking about Dante's Freezer. (looks over at a boulder that started to move for a split second) hey...is it me or did the boulder just move?
(suddenly the boulder started to move, and the group heard stones moving. Spyro, Crystal and Sophie looked ahead in alert seeing the boulder in the middle of the arena was moving but only it was not a boulder at all. Part of the top of it fall to the ground and fingers twitched from it showing it was an arm. The Arm moved to the side revealing a large face and another arm as the figure pulled itself from the ground revealing a pair of legs showing it was a Rock Golem. But unlike the others the trio encountered this one was three times bigger and when it eyed the intruders in the arena it pounded its massive stone chest and let out an earth shattering roar.)
Sophie, Spyro: O~O;
Crystal: O.O
Sparx: When will I learn? when things look good run for the hills!
Sophie: is THIS the God of the Shrine?
Spyro: From the looks of it, yes! that's him!
(the rock golem stared at the four, letting out another roar...)
''Guardian Deity of Tall Plains
STONE SENTINEL ''
(he Massive Sentinel turned to Spyro and its arm extended out fast and knocked the dragon straight into the wall of the Arena. Spyro immediately got up and shot fireballs at the sentinel, making him cry out in pain, and turned to Sophie to attack her. the young Lythian drew the Aether Sword and swung it at him a few times, before being met with a powerful kick that knocked her over to a wall. Sophie felt her vision blurring for a few seconds from the force of the hit, she was trying to stand up despite the pain she felt from the Sentinel's kick, but managed to get back up and fight through the pain.)
(Crystal used her ice bow and arrow to shoot at the Sentinel's direction from behind, but the damage her arrows did was not enough to topple him. once again the Sentinel extends his arm at her direction in an attempt to knock her over. but the Lythian Ice guardian dodged it in time. Spyro breathes out a stream of fire at him whenever he got the chance, causing the sentinel to scream out in pain again, only for him to continue his wrathful attack on the dragon, and the two lythians. when Sophie saw the chance to strike, the sentinel then began spinning around with both arms extended, with the intention to hit the three when they got close, knocking the young Lythian over again.)
Spyro: Sophie! OAO
(Sophie tries to get up and saw her blood dripping on the ground from her head.)
Sophie: No! I'm not giving up just yet! (slowly gets up, clutching her sword tightly.)
(unknown to her, from the shadows of the woods, the mysterious hooded Black Sorceress was seen observing the battle, looking specifically at the younger Lythian fighting with the legendary blade in her hands.)
(back to the battle, Spyro used his fireballs to attack the shrine god, but the Stone Sentinel looked at Crystal who froze his legs solid with her ice element, and flew up in the air, shooting her ice arrows at him. angered, he pointed his arm at her, and used the arm thrust once more, extending further to the air, knocking her down to the ground, freeing himself from the lythian's icy restraints, and knocked Spyro over with a single spin, letting out a roar, that showed his wrath.)
(Sophie was the only one who could move, remaining standing, but barely, holding her sword tightly.)
Sparx: this' bad! at this rate he'll crush us like bugs!
Sophie: what do I do? how do I ease his pain?! >m<
(the stone sentinel extends his hand, ready to knock her again. Sophie shut her eyes tight, and swung her sword against the stone sentinel's arm which was thrust at her direction, readied for whatever pain that was to come. but it never did. Sophie looked at her sword, dimming brightly with bright purple celestial light.)
Sophie: ?! The Aether Sword! its glowing!
Crystal: Wow! that's different...! O.O
(the Stone Sentinel looked at the sword, and saw a bright purple crescent moon mark on Sophie's forehead. he knew this symbol, as it belonged to the Lythians' Celestial Goddess.)
Sophie: Huh...? what's happening? (looks at her sword) why is my sword glowing?
(the stone sentinel roared as it continued to attack Sophie, but she kept defending herself with her sword as it clashed with the stone sentinel's arms. purple sparks coming out as it did so, giving Spyro a chance to get up and release a few fireballs at his direction. moments later, the glow of the aether sword disappears, and the stone sentinel became weakened as it collapsed on one knee, but refused to give up, as it got up a few seconds later.)
Sophie: did we get him?
Spyro: Nope. -.-
(the stone sentinel was beyond furious, as it now proceeded to increase the power in his attacks. he used his arm thrust with both hands on Spyro and Sophie.)
Sophie: come on, there's gotta be a way to beat him! (gasps) of course! Spyro! while I unleash a powerful thunderstorm, you do that fire fury thing! that should end it!
(Spyro heeded Sophie's idea, and together, the dragon used his fire fury, while the lythian unleashed the elemental fury of thunder and lightning at him, electrocuting and setting ablaze to every exposed vine on the Stone Sentinel, instantly disintegrating them and Sentinel fell to ground in pieces as it let out one last roar that echoed across Tall Plains for the last time as its body was destroyed.)
Sparx: WOOHOO! YOU GOT HIM!
(Spyro took a moment to catch his breath from his fire fury attack, landing on his feet, and saw Sophie collapsing on her knees.)
Spyro: Sophie! are you okay?
Sophie: yeah, I'm okay! my head still hurts from that hit, but I'm good!
(the three look to see a green spirit coming from the stone sentinel's destroyed body, floating over to them.)
Stone Sentinel's Spirit: Thank you for releasing me...Spyro, Sophie, and Sparx. your bravery and vigor have released me of this accursed body. I also must apologize for my actions against you and against the very people whom I have sworn to protect many eons ago.
Sophie: well, ever since Cynder got here, they thought your wrath was a punishment for them for not paying tribute to you. most of them at least.
Stone Sentinel's spirit: that may be true, but that is not entirely the case. what they have failed to understand was that I wasn't upset because I hadn't been praised; I was upset because I was hurt and scared, and too unbalanced to keep the Plains balanced. As the fruit and vegetables became harder to come by and to keep fertile, the natives of Tall plains assumed they were being punished by me for not paying any tribute.
But in reality, it had nothing to do with them. it was all Cynder and the Dark Armies she is leading, and my staggering loss. and I was forced to watch this dragon, and keep him imprisoned here while Cynder drained him of his power. until now...I am free of my fear and anger thanks to your combined efforts.
Spyro: so, what will you do now?
Stone Sentinel's Spirit: I am the guardian deity of the Atlawa that has existed since time immemorial. I have been reborn over and over again to protect the Atlawa from all harm. with this body destroyed, I will very soon reincarnate into a new body and continue to guard Tall Plains and its natives and keep the balance of the seasons. (turns Spyro and to the wounded Sophie ) the purple dragon, and the child of the lythians.
Sophie: Hm? O.O
Stone Sentinel's Spirit: I deeply sympathize with the current sufferings of your race, as well as the sufferings of the dragons ever since what happened that night twelve years ago. but you need not fear anything that comes your way...
(extends his hand to Sophie's head, glowing bright green, as the wounds that he inflicted on her were healing.)
Sophie: O.O
Stone Sentinel's Spirit: you both have such a heavy burden to carry. but even so, you drew strength from one another and together you brought peace, hope, healing and freedom to my domain. go forth and free the other islands, from the Black Dragon of Terror. as of today, I put my faith in you, Purple Dragon and Shevyria Reborn.
(and with that, the spirit flies off from their sights so he can reincarnate into another body to continue his existence as the guardian of the atlawa tribe.)
(Crystal flies over to Cyril's side, worriedly)
Crystal: Cyril! Cyril wake up!
(the ice guardian of the dragons slowly opened his eyes to see his lythian companion looking at him.)
Cyril: Crystal? is that you, my friend? what's happened?
Crystal: Uhh... for one thing, Duh! of course its me! and for another, we were here to save you from Cynder and-
Cyril: Cynder?! (instantly gets up) where is that fiendish dragon?!
Crystal: Hey! Chill! Cynder's gone. but those three actually helped me in saving your butt.
(the dragon looked to see Spyro, Sophie and Sparx with a bewildered look on his face. then the Atlawa, Beathan and Kane emerged from above the arena and came down to see the ones who have place their land back into balance and saved them all from Cynder. all the Atlawa were bowing and praying for the ones who saved them from evil, saying prayers and blessings. Kane approached them with a very happy smile, with Beathan by his side.)
Kane: You have subdued the God of the Shrine, restored balance to seasons, the land, and our world. The Atlawa’s want to worship you all now.
(Sophie looks at the atlawas bowing to her, Spyro and Sparx and even Crystal. she laughed as her face turned red, finding it hard to grasp the fact that she's being praised. of course, she was the reincarnation of a goddess. Shevyria, the Goddess whom the Lythians worship, that is.)
Sparx: Worship? All right! I’ve never gotten the respect I deserve, the Praise that should be mine.
Crystal: well, its about time I'd feel important after a long time since our kind's genocide twelve years ago. -w-
Spyro: That’s very nice, Kane, but we have to get back to our home. Figure out how to stop Cynder for good.
Sparx: (Raising his hands up, acting like a god to be worshipped) My dear Atlawas, I am the mighty Sparx, scourge of the despot! XD
Cyril: Yes, yes, old boy, we’d like nothing more than to stay and be a part of your primitive, barbaric society, but duty calls, duty calls. -w-
Crystal: Plus, this lythian kid is a goddess incarnate who can swing a legendary blade around, and I want her on my side.
Kane: If you must, you must. But know that you all are now part of the Atlawa tribe…one of us. please know that you are welcome here at any time. as far as we are concerned, you are our allies.
Sophie: Thanks, Kane.
Beathan: we are forever in your debt, Spyro, Sophie, Sparx, and Crystal.
Sparx: I am the Almighty Dragonfly God, Sparx! Sent from the swamps to deliver y'all from evil and darkness! XD
Sophie: alright, Sparx, that's enough. UwU
Sparx: Whatever...
Sophie: (feels a sharp pain in her head and almost stumbles)
Cyril: (takes notice) now, now, young chap, no need to over exert yourself. you did fight quite hard for someone your age. allow me to be of assistance. (grabs Sophie with his paw and sets her on his back for her to rest.)
Sophie: thanks Cyril. (thinking) although my wounds were healed, it'll take some time to regain my strength.
Kane: By the way, Spyro, you were right.
Spyro: about what?
Kane: Maybe two or more heads are better than one. Even if one belongs to an annoying mosquito.
Sparx: Mosquito, me? Is that…oh.
(they all laugh one last time, before the dragons and the two lythians, took off to the sky, with Sparx following them back to the dragon temple.)
(the Black Sorceress looked on before she disappeared back to the shadows using her magic.)
(later on, in convexity, Cynder flew towards the portal, inserting the second blue crystal that contained Cyril's ice powers.)
???: ahhh! excellent work, Cynder! you have brought the power of ice, the second key in freeing me of my prison.
Cynder: it is my pleasure to serve you, master. after all, your wish is my command.
???: good. now, the third power needed to unlock this portal...the power of the wind.
Cynder: you needn't worry. I have the two guardians of wind contained in the faraway mountains. it won't take too long to bring the third crystal to you.
???: Very well, Cynder. do not fail me.
Cynder: (bows down) yes, my master.
