(the chapter starts on the ground of the grand canyon, where a snake was seen crawling and hissing...then, we see the Hyper Tornado flying in the sky, being piloted by Tails.)Tails: Eggman's tracker signal comes from the depths of Zone 99. since we weren't invited, GUN's radars can detect us.
Sonic: It's okay, I can go on foot. its easier anyway. keep a lookout for a workaround though. Eggman definitely passed the radars.
(Sonic jumps off the Tornado and lands on the ground, with Sophie flying at his side.)
''Area 99''
Sophie: Hold up! since when did GUN have a lab here?
Tails: you and Sonic both had an agreement, remember?
Sonic: yep! on guarding the temple, not all this.
Sophie: Something smells really fishy in here...
(it was then, we hear Abraham Tower, the commander of GUN, speaking over the intercom.)
''Sonic, Sophie, you both are on forbidden territory. if you get another 700 meters, we will have to use force!''
(the two blue siblings blast their way through a few GUN robots around the desert area, with one ignoring the commander's warning, and the other starting to get worried.)
Tails: watch out!
Sonic: looks like this security system is targeting us, and not the Egghead!
Sophie: Ahhhh, Nova's gonna kill me when she finds out about this! OmO;
''Stop them! the Exiled will not to let anyone into Block A until it's ready! ''
Sophie: -thinking- the Exiled? Nova mentioned him once during our phone call earlier...just who is he? and why is he with GUN?
(the blue siblings make their way into the lab, crossing a few moving platforms, and past the security system. eventually, they enter the excavation area within Area 99, which was a cavern full of rocks and ancient ruins, bearing a few similarities to the old temple in Soleanna's Dusty Desert.)
Tails: You're almost there!
Sonic: the Signal's coming from here!
Sophie: we must be getting closer!
(soon, they get to the area of the signal and stop there. Sophie looks at an old mural, that depicts a large monstous figure being surrounded by the seven chaos emeralds, and beneath it, the planet is in pieces and plunged into darkness.)

''Wild Ridge''
(Meanwhile, Tails was piloting the Hyper Tornado when he hears Sonic's voice over the datapad he brought with him.)
Sonic: Hey, Tails! do you see our coordinates? we are at the temple, can you get to it?
Tails: the Valley is really narrow, but I think I can make it.
Sophie: be careful, okay? we're waiting for you.
(and with that, Tails flew over the valley, shooting down nearby GUN robots, and avoiding being crushed by traps along the way. soon, he reaches an area full of what appears to be locked gates.)
Tails: it looks like I can't fly any further...hmm... there should be a way to open these gates.
(Tails continues to fly through holes in the walls, searching for a nearby switch, and avoid more traps and shoot down GUN robots.)
Tails: I think I'm on the right track! (looks around and sees the switch) there's the switch! (shoots at the switch, causing one gate to open.)
(Tails goes through the gate and continues his way towards the temple.)
Tails: the Air defense system is suspiciously weak... what if it was really meant to keep Sonic and Sophie away. wait...if that's the case, then what is GUN really after?
(he presses on the second switch with his shots, and just when two GUN mechs were about to shoot him, Knuckles comes in, punching them so hard they exploded on the ground.)
Tails: Knuckles! what are you doing here?
Knuckles: I can ask you the same question!
Tails: we've been trying to contact you earlier but you didn't answer.
Knuckles: Yeah, sorry. Had to do my usual thing on Angel Island. but you're lucky I saw you flying all the way here, 'cause you really could use some help! mind if I tag along?
Tails: sure! just be careful!
Knuckles: no promises, kid. -w- (glides and presses on the final switch)
(with Knuckles joining him, Tails and piloted the tornado and both he and the guardian went through the Plasma Gate, but as they did, the wind coming out of there almost blew them away.)
Knuckles: Nrgh! the wind here is too powerful!
Tails: (Looks around seeing pictures of monsters drawn on the walls) what are these creatures on the drawings?
Knuckles: those drawings depict the creatures known as Omens of Destruction.
Tails: Omens of...Destruction?
Knuckles: my people passed down the legend of these creatures for countless generations. I don't know the exact details, but... they seem to have a connection with the planet itself somehow.
(Tails wanted to say something, but was soon interrupted by Sonic who began speaking over the datapad.)
Sonic: He-Hey! I think I see a good landing spot!
Tails: landing gear is all set! and also, Knuckles is here with me!
Sonic: Really? you got a good timing there, Knux!
Knuckles: heh! I have moments!
(as soon as the tornado landed, Sonic, Tails, Knuckles and Sophie see Eggman and immediately run to him just as he is about to grab the red chaos emerald.)
Sonic: oh, would you look at that! he's already here!
Sophie: (sees the blue emerald in the doctor's hands) and he's got the other emerald with him too!
Eggman: what a shame... you've all arrived here too late! the emerald is as good as mine!
(when Eggman was about to grab the red chaos emerald, it, along with the blue emerald began to shine brightly, causing a beam of light to emerge, and therefore have the group of four stop in their tracks)
Tails: Something's off!
Knuckles: that's not good!
(with a huge tremor, a large tail swiped at Eggman, sending him flying elsewhere. the four look around, seeing that it was a snake like creature made of stone and Magma revealing itself and staring down at the four.)
Sophie: Hooolyyyy Shit! OmO
Tails: huh? what in the world...?
Sonic: we better get out of here, and quick!
(Sonic immediately grabs Tails, and Knuckles hopped onto the Tornado's wing, and Sophie sprouts her wings, beginning to escape the creature that began to chase them around the temple, smashing through anything in its path.)
Tails: What is that thing chasing us?!
Sonic: I don't wanna find out!
Sophie: we gotta get out of here, now!
Knuckles: I'm with Sophie on this!
(they are making their way through the tunnels, seeing the creature digging through holes, its body seen coiling around like a snake causing a sandstorm.)
Sonic: Gaaah! I can't see anything through this sandstorm!
(they continue to fly as fast as they could out of the temple, hardly avoiding the creature's snake like body that burst from the ground)
Sophie: WOAH! That was too close! OmO'
(moments later, as they were escaping the creature's head burst from the wall, facing them just when they were close to the exit.)
Sonic, Tails, Sophie: AAAAAAHHH! OAO
Knuckles: Tails! Go up!
Tails: hold onto something!
(Knuckles grabbed the tornado's wing tightly, as Sophie followed the jet suit, going upwards. then going down, avoiding more traps as well as the snake like creature's body that burst through walls, until eventually, they reach the temple's exit safely. then they see the creature make its appearance as it burst through the sand, roaring at them.)
''GNARL''
Sonic: I think the Chaos Emerald is giving this snake energy! let's try knocking it out of its head, okay?
Sophie: right! (pulls out the Celestial Sword, raises it upwards) FOR THE GLORY OF THE CELESTIALS!
(Sophie briefly transforms to her Knight form, and flies up through the sandstorm, along with Sonic, Tails and Knuckles, evading the Gnarl's lunges as it burst through the ground, and crawls to a sandy hill, and shoots fireballs out of its mouth at the group. the group dodges, as Sophie flew towards the Gnarl's head and delivered a few good slashes with the golden sword in her hand, delivering enough amount of damage, before the Gnarl crawls back underground, trying to devour her friends.
when it opened its jaws, Knuckles jumped high and punched it so hard a few times it screeches in pain and crawls back underground, coming out to another high spot where it shot fireballs out of its mouth. Tails was shooting at the Gnarl's body with the Hyper Tornado, causing cracks to appear. the angelic Knight used her fire element to summon a flaming bow and arrow and shoot at its head, creating an opening for Sonic to deliver the finishing blow. Sonic's body crackled with electric surges, and his eyes shone in bright blue color, he performed his Sonic Wind attack, which was a blue whirlwind that's crackling with electricity, finishing the Gnarl off. seeing its physical body destroyed with an explosion, they see a red colored orb, which appeared to be the creature's spirit quickly descending down to the ground.
Knuckles immediately catches Sonic, Tails and Sophie and the Tornado was safely placed on the wooden bridge. this time, the four were in a really awkward position... Knuckles grabbed Sonic by the leg with his right hand, and Tails sat on his left arm, while Sophie clung onto him, like she was being given a piggy back right.)
Sophie: Uhhh.... O^O'
Sonic: Uh, Knux? one question, okay? Do we even weigh anything to you?! OmO
Knuckles: No... -.-
Sonic, Sophie, Tails: (look at Knuckles silently) O.O
Knuckles: holding you three is like carrying a few bags of grapes! ÒwÓ
Tails: Hahahaha! ^w^
Sophie: ehehehehe... -w-'
Sonic: (flails his arms around as Knuckles moved him higher) GAH! WOAH, WOAH! HEY! OAO;
Knuckles: since that creature's gone, you can get off me now.
(Sophie and Tails immediately got off, while Knuckles dropped Sonic on the ground, once again the blue hedgehog face planting.)
Sonic: Ow! my face! >~<' maybe a little warning next time?
Knuckles: my bad. -w-'
(moments later, as Sonic approached the remains of the Gnarl's physical body, he looked at the red chaos emerald.)
Sophie: Hey! that Egghead's getting away!
(the four look up to see Eggman flying away on his Eggmobile)
Tails: He's going for the next emerald!
Sonic: let's hurry and follow him!
(meanwhile, beneath them, the mysterious tall metallic figure was inside the temple, looking at the mural Sophie and Sonic saw earlier.)
???: My desires have all turned to ashes once...but thanks to you, Nox, I have gained a second chance. this chaos...(places hand on the mural) is just the first omen...of this world's demise.
(a while later, as night fell, Sonic, Tails, Sophie and Knuckles chased Eggman on the Hyper Tornado over a dark forest.)
Tails: You won't get away, Eggman!
Sonic: we can't allow him to get that Emerald!
Tails: the Tornado will stop him! fire! (targets Eggman and starts to shoot at him.)
Sophie: Hey, Tails! this territory is also protected by GUN! better be careful!
Knuckles: (looks behind them, and sees a group of GUN robots flying to them, aiming their weapons) we've got company!
Sophie: GUN'S right behind us!
(the GUN robots chase the tornado and start to shoot at the jet's direction)
Tails: why are they attacking us instead of Eggman?
Sonic: Tails, watch out!
(one of the GUN robots made a direct shot at one of the Hyper Tornado's engines, causing it to plummet down from the air)
Tails: Oh No! one of the engines failed! we're losing speed! Sonic, Knuckles, hold on!
(suddenly, the jet's cockpit was opened and then closed. Tails looked behind him and sees Sonic and Knuckles standing side by side, on the same wing, while Sophie flew beneath the tornado, and joined Sonic and Knuckles.)
Sonic: Knuckles, Sophie and I will distract them, so we'll have a shot at taking the emerald before Eggman! Tails, cover us on top, alright?
Tails: I'll do the best I can!
