Description
this scene takes place in Episode 51 of the Anime Mermaid Melody, in addition to the moment in the Manga where Coco confronts Sara and defends Hanon and Tarou.----------
(Sara's evil laughter echoed throughout the castle, as the six Mermaid Princesses, among them being Gianna and Baaya, were overwhelmed by Sara's song of hatred and despair.)
Sara: does it hurt? serves you right. I will let you feel even more pain!
Baaya: S-Sara-sama! please stop this!
Sara: why should I stop? when you were the one who made Mitsuki betray me?! you deserve to suffer as I have suffered! my song will lead you all to the depths of Hell!
Gianna: Ghg!
(suddenly the tune of a piano is heard, cancelling out Sara's dark influence.)
Gianna: I hear a Piano. O.O
Hanon: Tarou-chan is playing the Piano.
Sara: Mitsuki. (a scowl appears on her face)
(in the chamber, the hypnotized Tarou is playing his piano. his eyes still lackluster, but deep inside, his heart wishes the song he composed will reach Sara. and that's when she comes in.)
Sara: Mitsuki! stop playing the Piano!
(Tarou doesn't respond, which Sara completely loses control of her anger and walks up to him.)
Sara: I said stop playing the Piano! can't you hear me?! (slams her palm against the keys in an attempt to make him stop.)
(all was silent, as Sara glares down at her former lover, and from behind her, Hanon makes her way to the chamber looking at the scene.)
Hanon: (Thinking) Tarou-chan. so you were alright after all. thank goodness.
(then, Tarou started playing the piano again, further angering Sara, then smiles a bit wickedly.)
Sara: I understand, Mitsuki. you're saying that you no longer value your life, right? then I shall grant your wish and put you out of your misery. (pulls her microphone and attempts to sing again.)
Hanon: NO! (runs in front of Sara, anger shown in her eyes)
Sara: ?! you surprised me. the pain should have made you fall to your knees.
Hanon: Stop hurting Tarou-Chan right now!
Sara: Ah. I see that you are in love with Mitsuki, Aquamarine Mermaid Princess. everyone betrays me in the end, don't they?
(takes the music sheets before Tarou's eyes and rips it to shreds in front of Hanon, much to her shock.)
Hanon: No! why...? why would you do that?! (thinking, as tears were forming in her eyes) why...? when he feels so strongly for her? (speaking) Sara! do you have any idea how it felt for me to listen to his music?! how can you not see that Tarou-Chan composed this song through his love for you?!
Sara: SHUT UP!
(at that statement, Sara slaps Hanon so hard, she fell on the ground.)
Sara: what do you know of how I feel? how dare you pretend to understand?! you know absolutely nothing!
(Sara's eyes widen a bit as Hanon stood up on her feet, despite the pain she felt on her face where Sara hit her.)
Hanon: fine! if you want to hurt him so badly, then hurt me instead!
Sara: (giggles darkly) you amuse me. I wonder how long you can put up this facade. (takes her mic and begins singing the next verse of her song.)
Sara: (Singing)
''Houseki no you ni kirameku haha naru umi no
Yasashisa to ai ni tsutsumare umareta
Nanatsu no inochi ga mitsumeru yume ga aru
Dakara watashi mo koko ni kita no
Mou jibun ni uso tsukanai
Mamoru hito ga ite
Mamoru sekai ga aru kara''
(Hanon covered her ears, feeling the pain rush through her body once again as Sara continues her song that made her feel weak again and still she does her best to remain on her feet.)
Hanon: (thinking) It hurts... but if I give up here, then Tarou-Chan will...
(suddenly, Coco comes in, running to Hanon's aid.)
Coco: STOP THAT!
Sara: !? Coco...!
Coco: That's enough, Sara... you're hurting the one thing that is most precious to you, destroying it! (with a sympathetic look on her face, on the verge of crying) how can you wound yourself like this...?!
Hanon: Coco...!
Sara: hmhm... so even you are trying to stop me. you've got some nerve. but when I was truly in pain, you did nothing! you've got pretty selective sympathies!
Coco: (with regret) you're right. I couldn't do anything for you. that's why I'm here to help you now! Sara, come back to the way you were!
Sara: heh! your efforts are futile. the old me is long gone. if you truly want to help me, then I'll ensure you suffer with me! (pulls her mic again and sings the next part.)
Sara: (singing)
''Kitto!
Mienakute utagau no wa yowasa
Katachi no nai ai o shinjitetai
Yagate ai o kono te ni kanjiru hi made...''
(both mermaid princesses felt the pain, but still show their resilience towards Sara's song, with determined and defiant looks in their eyes.)
Sara: (looks at them with confused look) why... why would you two sacrifice so much for him? for me? (looks at the Aqua mermaid princess) she's just like me in the past.
Coco: Please remember, Sara. remember the love that once and always surrounded you!
Sara: ?!?! (her eyes widen as her memories flood in, from her childhood friendship with Coco in the Indian and South Pacific Ocean Kingdoms, to her meeting with Tarou in the human world that led to a flashback)
(FLASHBACK)
(Sara was brushing her hair peacefully, when suddenly, Tarou came in and covered her eyes in surprise.)
Sara: Tarou!
Tarou: were you surprised?
Sara: Geez!
(Tarou jumps into the water and makes an attempt to escape his mermaid lover playfully.)
Sara: Come back here!
Tarou: Make me!
Sara: (laughs as she swims after Tarou)
(FLASHBACK END)
(Sara's eyes shifted from confusion to complete regret and sorrow, closing her eyes as she lets her tears fall.)
Hanon: Sara?
Sara: T.T
Coco: Sara...
(Lucia, Rina, the Polar Twins and Gianna ran to the chamber and watched the scene playing before them. Coco and Hanon watch as the repentant Sara sheds her tears silently.)
(and the scene continues on like in the anime.)
