Description A pair of tree swallows (Tachycineta bicolor) mating on a branch above me.
It was quite weird since I thought at first they were fighting since the female was opening her beak and seemed angry, but I guess at the end they resolved the issue.
The swallow on top is the male, indicated by the green-ish coloration on his head.
Multiple acts of copulation occur during their mating session
The male holds on to the females head feathers in order to complete his mating "balancing" act.
Technically the male should have a nest readily available and soon eggs will arrive in about a week.
