Mim are a species of slug and octopus-like aliens found by humans on the moon Elysia b II, also called Clione. They have the unique ability to manipulate their bodies by moving liquid throughout their cartilaginous skeletal system, and are incredibly flexible. Originally less humanoid and only capable of using simple tools, they were uplifted by humans because their ability to manipulate their bodies made them in asset in space travel.

They have four arms, digitigrade legs, and feelers on their head. Their bodies are squishy and soft, except for the mantle on their back and the winglike fins and tail attached to it, which are rougher and thicker than the rest of their skin. Like many snails and slugs, all Mim belong to a single sex and are all capable of reproducing with each other, but their outward characteristics depend on hormone production which varies by individual and can be altered by HRT.

Mim require a lot of hydration to survive because of their unique body chemistry, however in a pinch they can absorb water from the air through their skin. If they become too dehydrated, they curl up into a round, bloblike form. They can also take this form voluntarily to conserve energy or space.
