I don't really want to inherit the earth.edit 10.09.2012--
Well, after very much debate (read: years of inner dialogues), I think this photo would be more effective simply black and white.
...and yet, I'm still hesitant. I will upload the original color version into my scraps, and maybe some people will leave their thoughts.

Ok, so I don't know if you've considered submitting this to 'green' magazines or organizations. This would greatly help bring out a point that many people still don't want to accept. This piece could go so far, not only with this movement.

Well, I didn't put that much thought into it, but...

There are so many more out there. If you live in the US (I'm almost positive you do...), you can check out your state or local universities. There are dozens of local "green" papers and mags out there. You just gotta look.

Oh wow. The message is a very strong one, but the way you portrayed it is just so effective and striking! At first I really thought it was a gift, and when you realize just what those hands are holding, it leaves quite an impression. Beautiful job.

well, unfortunately I can't remember exactly how I got this effect, but I believe it's something along the lines of desaturating one layer, then playing with variations and the color balance in another layer and changing the blending option (to what I don't remember), and some burning and dodging... basically, just playing around a bit with color balance and burn/dodge tools in photoshop...I'm sorry that wasn't very helpful
