Description

The Pxamaadhzo't is a large beast of burden native to the west of Thpira'shi, and is utilized for many different purposes by the native Shrith inhabitants. The beast itself is about 6 feet tall, and weighs around 3,000 lbs. The beast is herbivorous, and chews up vegetation through a long, toothed proboscis. Most Txemshi vertebrates have two tentacular arms to bring food to the mouth, but the Pxamaadhzo’t has fused its two feeding arms into a single trunk.

The Pxamaadhzo’t itself is a domesticated animal, and is used to transport resources from one area to another. They are used to transport building resources from one site to the next, they’re used to transport resources to different towns, and they’re even used to carry Shrith to different lands, too. Having large, blunted legs and feet, they’re optimal for covering long distances, distances that most Shrith cannot traverse. They often travel in either pairs or caravans, and are commanded by a single Shrith atop the beast who commands the animal with a small crop-like tool.

But while they’re often used for transporting resources, they’re also used for other things, like clothing and scrimshaw.

The blue hide of a Pxamaadzho’t is suitable for making carpets, gloves, coats, bags and other materials. Dying this hide can yield different colors, and nobles especially like to have fancy, green-colored accessories, as green is considered a “royal” color. The red, leathery plates along the animal’s back are less favorable, as that hide is very thick and more heavy than the blue hide, but it does find purpose being used as a type of roofing, and is specially prepared so that the hide doesn’t rot.

One of the more defining traits of the Pxamaadhzo’t is its yellow crest. The crest is made of bone, and the outer layer is made of a material similar to antler velvet. When a Pxamaadhzo’t dies, the crest is considered to be one of the most valuable parts of the skeleton, and many Shrith make art from the crest. The flat design of the crest makes it ideal for carving images and letters, and many Shrith herds pride themselves on their scrimshaw abilities. In fact, some Shrith herds even have friendly competitions with one another where they compete in making scrimshaw. Some of the most popular designs the Shrith carve into the crest consist of poetry and depictions of the gods. Males are forbidden from partaking in scrimshaw, but females are perfectly fine to make scrimshaw. Kithtakol males, on the other hand, are allowed to in some regions and forbidden in others. Largely, it is seen as a feminine hobby.

All-in-all, the Pxamaadhzo’t is a very culturally important creature, and has had a large impact on the Shrith of west Thpira’shi.
