Description
Alchemy , a part of the Occult Tradition, is both a philosophy and a practice with an aim of achieving ultimate wisdom as well as immortality.

After my last image ( [link] ) a lot of you asked for another one, and some information regarding the set-up.
And a lot asked about manipulations.
None of my photos are manipulated, i use photoshop for contrast, grain removal, colortones and light. But i do not ad or remove objects other then dust and such.
The light circles here/bokeh are from small lights i placed behind the cup.
You can use all sorts of lights, but i really like working with small lights aka christmas-tree lights.
the F1.8 makes the lights totally out of focus.
I used a canon 50mm 1.8 lens here.
i used tape/glue and hang the lights from a ceiling.
It takes a while to get the set-up right, but i love working with it.

Really nice with the colors here, the orange is sharp! I also like that the cup is almost totally plain, it looks more metallic and ethereal. It's a something different in that big category of "pics of teacups". Nice job!

I'm very curious as to what symbolic meaning, if any, you apply to the teacup, the lights, the choice of color for the lights and the background, and I guess the color of the teacup itself too.

Wow, what a cool photo! I love the concept and that you had to carefully set everything up to get the shot. It comes off looking so natural (as natural as alchemy, anyway). The colors are wonderful -- I love how the lights contrast so much against the cool/ neutral colors in the rest of the frame. Great work!

That's pretty creative. The clean, distinguished cup is nice to focus on, and the glowing lights against the soft blue background make it look very magical. It's simple and I like it

This piece is lovely in the concept and execution. The contrast between the blues and oranges are nice and everything being out of focus except the cup really helps to create a nice focal point. Overall this deviation is beautiful. Definitely a

... its not the camera that allows an aperture of f/1.8, its the lens... clearly your new to this and you shall learn soon :]

i forgot about that. i was thinking that the camera sets the aperture through that dial thingy next to the button that goes down and shoots the picture, yeah.
