(If anyone is interested I do plan for him to have a holoform like most of the other 'cons but I haven't settled on a design for it yet.)

Oh, cool! I really like how you gave Breakdown more than just dual hammers for integrated weaponry. His different vehicle mode also helps convey his friendly disposition in contrast to his canon Evil-Con counterpart.
As for his holomatter avatar, might I suggest having it look like Jayne Cobb from FIREFLY and SERENITY (basically the same storyline, but the former is a T.V. series, and the latter is the concluding movie).
Considering that the character (a muscled yet somewhat dim gun-toter, but has some redeemable qualities) is played by Adam Baldwin who in turn voiced TFP Breakdown, I think that it sort of fits.

Yeah, he used them when he was fighting off MECH after Bulkhead sprung him free. I also took more notice of the magnetic generators; perhaps a callback when he fought Airachnid and the Autobots over the polarity gauntlet, or some inspiration from ANIMATED Ratchet?
Furthermore, I have another suggestion regarding Breakdown and Bulkhead's somewhat similar color scheme: how about since the two of them are both manual laborers and work in some sort of construction field, black and orange can be the identifiers/basic colors for the manual construction caste? And depending on what field (regular construction, shipbuilding, etc.), the orange and black scheme differ to match said speciality?

Ah, that makes sense. I wonder just how strong those electromagnets can be charged, he must be putting out a lot of juice if he's dealing with ship parts. Also, I assume that said magnets are both arms?
Well, considering that Megatron's sub-caste is "mining transport" and he has flying alt mode, those qualities could warrant an entirely different color scheme (i.e. his current colors). Also, if you decide to include the SG Contructicons, now you won't have to wrack your brains for a new color scheme for the team.

Well they're not that strong as when working with larger parts he can just use his strength. They're more there for manipulating little things.

Another note: Bulkhead has some green highlights while Breakdown doesn't; that can further help differentiate the type of manual work they do (which is represented in their colors).

Or, another option: Bulkhead's green accents further designate him as a bot with a criminal record/past disciplinary issues with his supervisor. Of course, this would indicate the Breakdown's got a squeaky-clean record, lol.

Breakdown (and the other future stunticons) was crew on a privateer ship so his record wouldn't exactly be clean either depending on how you look at it

Kinda true, but the crimes I sort of envision SG Bulkhead doing are like aggravated assault (most of the time unprovoked, but sometimes for petty reasons) grand theft, murder; just about anything that his strength and size can give him an edge.
With Breakdown, perhaps his early privateer days can start off with good intentions that eventually becomes corrupted as time progresses, and Megatron/the Decepticons offers him and the Stunticons a shot at redemption?
