This is a lovely use of the resources you have available. It resembles the original game cover while having its own personal touch. The facial expressions and the position in the character choice are fantastic. They might not fit the original ethnic background but they work well with the theme in mind.
However, my biggest issue is the background composition. The original cover did an amazing job at showing the buildings and characteristics of each respective faction and it was smaller. The background filled the cover and did not leave any blank space, you could have applied the same here, or at least crop the picture a little more. Blank spaces can work in certain compositions, and while I understand the main focus here is the center, the almost blank horseshoe shape feels distracting, especially with the logos. I think the use of the logos and injokes are fine, mind you. But you could’ve added some more to compensate the unused space, like the ESRB rating.
Plus, I think you could’ve added more depth/detail to the tittle’s font, it looks a little too simplistic as it is. A better shading would’ve benefit it as a whole, and the “OF” could be a little more stylized.
I’m pleased with the characterization but focus on this:
-Background composition: empty spaces can benefit a piece; but the opposite is in effect here.
-Cropping (See above).

When someone dousnt know that this is Age of Empires 2 well then he basicly never played any stradigy games.
