Growing up in Team Galactic was all she's ever known.

She was given to her trainer, a commander of the team, as a young Sneasel/Rowlett. Her Sneasel mother's lineage holding that of Hisuian DNA made her quite a desired mon when she hatched. Her father was a plain Decidueye, but that was all she knew about either of her parents. She grew up and evolved to be a feared partner pokemon among her rank.

Unlike another mon she knew, Darlene her name was, Athena was hardly ever used to test the new meat to come into the team. Her role was to simply protect her trainer and that often meant her only interactions came through other partner mons of the rest of the Galactic commanders and involved a lot of traveling between the bases. Her disregard towards grunts and their partners, let alone the guard mons, came solely from her emulating her own trainer's behavior. Although, she did find a good friend in Darlene while at her trainer's base. The two got along fabulously and when they had the chance, would always spend their time together while their trainers would hang out. She only noticed there was some change when an odd little Girafarig was brought in. Athena warned Darlene not to get too attached, they had jobs to do. They couldn't afford to when there was no guarantee any new meat would make it to becoming a grunt.

Athena was openly and unabashedly loyal to Galactic her whole life, to the point where she was pretty well known for her undying loyalty. And she understood Darlene to be the same. So when news reached her about Darlene's base being destroyed she got so worried for her friend.

The relief that came over her when she heard Darlene was back under Galactic almost made her cry. She wanted to see her friend again but her trainer was stationed in one of the bases on the other side of the region and they weren't scheduled to be there until 8 months later. So imagine her shock when she arrived at the base and found out Darlene had broken out.

Things weren't adding up. But she had no time to dwell.

She was given a mission; her trainer and she were to infiltrate Team Rocket and gather whatever intel they could. They knew there was a pokemon only sect of the organization, but they had no knowledge of its specific whereabouts since they'd moved. There were spottings of pokemon sporting Team Rocket accessories in some areas but that was about it. All she had to do was find some of these mons and play her part.

To her surprise, she saw Darlene among the small group she was able to find.. the girafarig child also with her.

For the sake of her mission, she Could Not Act on her rage. Instead, she followed from a distance and was lead right to the hideout.

She feigned weakness and approached another group she saw, she learned was a group of higher-ups, and begged them to let her join for a safe place to stay.

Cover Story
She was born in the Galactic labs, miserable as ever until she met Dolly. They became fast friends but when Dolly had disappeared from the base she got worried and found the strength to bust out and find her again. She eventually did but the victini was too far to catch up to in her weakened state, so she followed behind until she reached the Hideout. She wants to be in a safe place with the mon she considered a close friend for so long. She's afraid Galactic might find her if she's on her own, and is willing to do what it takes to stay at the hideout if it means she has somewhere safe to be.
