Shadow's a very complicated Hedgehog. He's got a lot to him than most others in Sonic.
Though you can't blame him. If I were there when G.U.N. barged in and shot up the people who worked with me, killed Maria, then put me into Stasis for 50 years, and all those other terrible things he's went through, I'd probably be like that too.

All his loved ones were killed by GUN, the human beings. That's why he hate us.
Although he doesn't want to trust anyone, but he still protected the Earth with Sonic. ( that's one of the reasons I love Sonadow XDDD
If I were him, I think I would destroy the world.
