Description The destruction of the Collector Base was not the end of the Collectors. The Illusion Man’s forces sent beyond the Omega 4 Relay would find half a dozen more Collector ships of half the cruiser’s size, and four satellite facilities orbiting the black hole’s accretion disk.
While the defending ships engaged Cerberus, they ultimately fell, and Cerberus forces would infiltrate each of the facilities. Upon near loss, the Collector Commander in each would self-destruct. The final facility, twice as large as the Collector Cruiser destroyed by Commander Shepard’s SR2 Normandy, was retreated from to prevent its self-destruction.
Cerberus instead sent three strike teams to assassinate the Commander and disable the station’s systems to prevent self-destruction, allowing for further incursion.
Eventually succeeding in their mission, one such team, Strike Team Bravo, would witness something horrific.
A large hollow chamber spanning at least a kilometers was studded with with stasis pods of varying sizes, and pillars spanning the diameter themselves just as covered, and elevated towers surrounded by platforms. The towers were made up of, not the usual insect-like hive-structured technology, but clearly reaper tech.
With many Collector units buzzing about, Bravo made their way to an elevated position on one of the pod pillars. While the designated sniper aimed her rifle, an assault trooper would look into a nearby pod and witness a perfectly living Prothean in stasis, frozen in fear with a Collector stasis bug on its neck. Looking in another pod, a less technologically infused form of Inusannon was held, far less mutilated than those depicted in statues on Ilos. Reporting this via live feed to Cerberus cruiser ‘Socrates,’ the Captain instructed further investigation before commencing with any assassination attempts.
Sneaking along the pillar, the team would cross many ancient, far unknown and extinct species, as well as samples of those more contemporary such as turians and asari. The tower now below them, the Infiltrator zoomed her scope to collect visual data on what went on atop the platforms.
She witnessed the tower bring up a pod carrying an unknown species, and opposite was brought a pod with tubes that attached as if by magnet to a Reaper tech structure hovering above. The second pod was without a front panel, a nearby Collector bring one via biotics.
The creature in the first pod was removed, it being frozen in place as terrified as the previously seen Prothean, again with one of those bugs on its neck. The creature was placed into the open pod and sealed within, but not before the Collector Commander arrived and directed a strange probe to fuse with the back of the creature’s neck between it’s bone-supported frills. Similar probes have been found in the bottom sections of Dragon’s Teeth used to make husks, though this one was hovering and designed for more direct contact rather than being connected to another device. It looked as if it were made out of Reaper hull, and once connected it glowed bright purple.
After a few minutes, the filled pod was opened to reveal a mutated behemoth of a living weapon. It’s back spikes became fused, each frill connected and bloated into a segmented set of sacs; it’s facial plate and skeleton were infused with Reaper tech, tubes and cables replacing its body systems, a weapon of sorts fused into its right forearm.
The sniper took aim and fired a biotic round through the Commander’s head, killing it. She then put rounds through the monster’s head, one revealing an over-enlarged brain, and a second delivering a killing blow. As Collectors swarmed, Strike Team Alpha deactivated the control system, this deactivating the storage pods, killing those inside with swarms of nano bots reducing them to biomass, seemingly as an infiltration failsafe.
Team Gamma would stumble upon the chamber storing a dozen of the finished monstrosities in larger pods, as if the Commander was anticipating the Cerberus infiltration and planned to release mutated super soldiers if any were detected…Cerberus acted first, it seems.
Collecting a few pods via biotic levitation, Gamma would connect with Alpha for exfiltration while Bravo stayed back to distract the Collectors.
The recovered mutated creatures would be designated “Adjutants” and all live feeds sent to Cerberus HQ for study.
Finding the remains of the Human Reaper mainly destroyed by Shepard, Cerberus evacuated a cruiser and overloaded her Mass Effect core before sending her on a collision course with the final Collector station. With stasis-stored Adjutants and human-reaper tech aboard, what remained of the fleet would return through the Omega 4 Relay. While one cruiser would bring the human-reaper part to Cerberus HQ, the Adjutants would be left with the Cerberus Captain. With the only superior officers in the fleet killed during the initial assault on the remains of the Collector Base, the Captain would be upgraded to Admiral based on his ability to take command on the spot, ensure fleet survival, strategize for mission success, and maintain poise under pressure.
Admiral Oleg Petrovsky would be tasked with conquering and defending the Omega station by usurping Aria and controlling the masses by any means necessary, as well as being tasked with further study of the Adjutants.

The initial creatures have many thorax-based respiratory chambers used for bellowing like horns to communicate. The dermal plates are bony, like antlers, and cover the dorsal surface and face in similar fashion to Turian dermal plates. The frills between the dorsal spikes are colored and display mood, and the face plate is carved with shapes and painted within similar to face-painting of other modern species. A tall creature, and once quadrupedal, it still uses its forelimbs to run in combat. It would have been seen as too primitive to harvest by the Reapers, but they were brought into the Iron Age by more advanced species to fight Reaper infantry as well as to use their vocals to send coded signals across vast distances during the loudness of combat; their sounds being broad in frequency potential and highly complex given the many openings usable at once. Deemed too primitive for cultural assimilation yet too dangerous to leave alone, a previous species used much like the Collectors were tasked to gather them in bulk to store them for possible future use. This other species was killed by a disease targeting them a cycle later by the Inusannon, leading to their replacement with indoctrinated, mutated, and augmented Protheans.
