Description
(This entry represent alternate history timeline)PS: Obviously inspired by Galil ARM rifle of Israeli origin
---------------------
Developed by Springfield Armory during mid 1950s using early Soviet AK rifles captured during the battles of Korea War. Chambered for new NATO-standard 7,62x45mm intermediate round and then competed against FN FAL and CETME rifle in a trial for new US Armed Forces standard rifle.
Eventually won, being adopted for service by US Military as the M59 automatic rifle, quickly becoming the standard infantryman's weapon.
In later decades, many copies, both licensed and reverse-engineered (although not near the level of prolifetration of the original Soviet AK or AKM rifle) arose across the world, helped by the fact that weapon being a copy of foreign design was never actually patented.
