was thinking about how Claire is actually kind of a menace and unafraid to speak her mind and do things her own way. Because the gang knows so little about her outside of the brief moments they do get, as well as the way Skid tends to talk about her. The gang's general impression of who Claire is as a person is wildly different from how Henri (and Skid too tbh) see and know her to be.

Henri's backstory is that when he was 11 years old his parents were hunted down and publicly executed for "witchcraft". While most the claims were falsified the truth behind it was that they'd been looking into a cult and uncovered some information they shouldn't've. They left this knowledge in the hands of their 11 year old son, who obviously taught himself how to read ancient greek in order to decode what the fuck was in this scrapped together book that his parents had DIED for. He learns a bunch of dark magic, as well as how to summon a demon and also how to expel a demon from a human body. You can see where this is going. After booting skid, Claire was absolutely fuckin Pissed at him. She threatened to kill a good several times(and he's a lil freak so he fell in love with her over this and he remains in love with Claire even once Claire comes out as trans) and the two spent a good six months together tracking down Skid again(who was playing pirates and briefly dated a hydra during that six months). Even after Claire and Skid were reunited Henri decided to stick around, and Skid loves strays so they were more than happy to have a little sidekick.

Unfortunately having an Adult present in his life again did not stop him from being an idiot with magic, as about 3 years into his friendship with skid he started experimenting with the book again and fucked himself up. He's not entirely sure how he fucked himself up, but his magic is super janky now, he's developed a lot of memory issues after the accident, and he's also mostly blind. Worst of all he's immortal at 15 and he doesn't even know how to fuckin undo it so he's in a permeant state of Puberty. But hey at least he has Skid/Claire who can commiserate with him in that regard.

On his worst days he has a tendency to forget Claire entirely, only being able to look at Skid and vaguely think "she looks like someone I know" without really knowing why or even how he met skid. On his best days he doesn't fully remember Why the two were traveling together just that Claire was often angry with him but also a genuinely kind person and just incredibly resourceful and that he misses her greatly. His goal is to one day be able to cure her and himself so that they can both grow up together.
