I get paranoid, too XD i'm glad I'm not the only one. It's because the person is making an effort to contact you in private where no one else but you will know what they're saying. It's cool when friends send notes, but when a person I don't know sends me a private note instead of a public message, I get a little paranoid.

YES! Every time I see have a note, I freaking panic. I was always terrified that it was someone telling me my art sucks and I should just go jump off a cliff.
Then, after I cut my ex-husband out of my life, he started cyber-stalking me, basically, and sending me notes and PM's on every website I visited regularly, and at that point I just started crying every time I saw I had a note on dA.
