Counter-Earth: Hyperspace Hedgehogs

A species of rodent common to Clarion, the Hyperspace Hedgehogs, as their name suggests, exist primarily in the hyperspace dimension where the rules of spacetime work differently. Their quills allow them to enter hyperspace and achieve fantastic speeds running around the planet without directly interacting with physical matter. This trait was evolved to avoid predators, and they tend to stop only to gather food and eat. If they die in normal space their bodies decompose normally, but death in hyperspace causes their bodies to burn up due to improper reentry.

Inspired by Sonic the Hedgehog, obviously.
