In the original shonen manga, this guy became a... Gorilla, for some reason. Which, considering he was one of the only named darker-skinned characters, uh... was not particularly okay for more than just logic reasons. Aside from the apparent racism of the creator, it never made sense for creatures made from things that weren't carnivorous were somehow now carnivorous creatures. Gorillas are neither obligate meat-eaters, nor are they particularly aggressive even for herbivores. So, in this mangling of the canon, he's now an Ussuri Brown Bear Homunculus. Still a great big dude!
