uhhh sorry for just ceasing to exist for a bit. I am doing fine and I have been drawing... just mostly Steven Universe stuff. My fixation for the show came back with a vengeance for the past month or so.

Here are my designs for corrupted Sapphire, Ruby and Garnet. Kind of surprising we never see what a corrupted ruby looks like in the show. (maybe there is in side material, but i don't know.) You'd think there would be like... a few rubies on Earth? Like it's hard to imagine there was only one in the rebellion. And that's also assuming all Homeworld rubies managed to escape Earth before the corruption event.

Anyways, here's some extra lore I thought up:

Corrupted rubies are incredibly durable, reckless and, as you can probably guess, burning hot. The thick coat they have protects them entirely from blunt damage, and as a result they can run into things with tremendous force without feeling a thing. Also, on account of having very poor eyesight, they'll pick a fight with just about anything that moves. They tend to congregate with other rubies and will spend a good amount of their time testing one other's strength. They may even fuse with each other to take down threats... or just another ruby. These fusions usually don't last very long, though. Corrupted rubies also have magic friction in their hooves which allow them to run up vertical surfaces, leaving burn marks in their step.

On the other hand, corrupted sapphires are very solitary, flighty and, of course, freezing cold. Their ethereal coat provides some protection by freezing anything that reaches into it, but it still offers much less defense than the rubies' coats. If there were a corrupted sapphire, it would possibly be the hardest corrupted gem to capture. Their future vision is always on overdrive with the instinct of self preservation. And with impressive athletic ability, they can sprint far, far away from danger the moment they sense even the possibility of it. I imagine if there was a sapphire on Earth, humans would probably interpret it as a good omen to see it, since a sapphire would only stick around areas while they're completely safe and peaceful.

The corrupted fusion of a ruby and sapphire would be formidable to say the least. Inheriting the durability of the ruby and the awareness of the sapphire, they are less aggressive and even peaceful, but can put up one hell of a fight if necessary. They have electric ability instead of fire or ice, and can channel a very strong shock through their hooves or run a defensive current through their coat. Your best bet while trying to take a corrupted garnet fusion down would be the eyes, as it's their weakest point. You could also try disrupting the harmony of the fusion somehow, as corrupted gem fusions tend to lean on the unstable side. A decent psychological attack could be enough to split them up.

So anyways. I might upload more Steven Universe art, who knows.
