So with 2 fics featuring the character, it was about time they finally got some reference art! So here we are, this is what Hex looks like. I absolutely adore how they've turned out. The artist who drew this was an absolute sweetheart to work with.

So what's the deal with Hex then you might ask?
And I'm glad you did hypothetical viewer!

Hex is essentially a rogue Protogen originally designed for combat. One who went missing during the time they should have been being conditioned to perform their expected combat functions. How they managed to get loose is a matter of speculation. But it is theorised a minor software glitch awakened them just prior to extracted from their tank. The newly awakened Hex utlisied their augmented strength and broke free of their bonds. Managing to evade capture and escape off world.

Since their escape they have been somewhat on the run. Preferring to stick to neutral territories on the fringes of civilised space. Only crossing into regulated space for brief periods of time, never overstaying their welcome. This is on account of them officially beign considered a space pirate. Initially they had been plying their skills as a mercenary and pilot, but eventually was branded a space pirate as a result of their associations to an anarchist space station out in frontier space. And while it had not been their intentions, they came to like the title and so began using it themselves.

Their main vibe is, tough scary asshole at a glance. But in truth actually capable of being a goofball deep down. Though thus far I've only really depicted the former. In time we'll get a little of the latter too.
