Description
Avulon wandered around the stalls, adorned with a Starsail koal that Carina had gifted him for the occasion. Last year this festival had been called off… or so the Starlight had been told, and that was why everyone was more festive then ever. Avulon wondered why such a charming event would ever be cancelled. It looked so wonderful with all the beautiful decorations, flickering lanterns, and bustling crowds of excited finley. Avulon felt energized from the other citizens, but at the same time they were uneasy. The small Astralit held their stuffed Pieshu close to their chest as they sidestepped Drakens and Nyulops and other Astralits, slowly making their way to the outermost edge of the paths. Avulon glanced one way and then the other, gazing at the stalls curiously. Were they allowed to approach any of them? It seemed that many of them were games. That seemed like a lot of fun! But-… surely the young Astralit wouldn’t be any good at them? Avulon thought, hesitating, until their red eyes fell on a stall that seemed to blend into the night atmosphere, lit up with brilliant blue lanterns and silvery letters on its banner. It drew Avulon in. There appeared to be a table with other finley focused on something, though each one of them would regularly tip their head back to look up at the sky. The Starlight took a moment to watch them and analyse what they were doing. It appeared they were recording the stars… or at least… that’s what it looked like. With only a hint of apprehension, they stepped forward and climbed up on a bench. They looked around and saw that the others were indeed charting the stars, but when Avulon looked closer it seemed that they were trying to find pictures within the glittering cosmos. Avulon set down their stuffed pieshu and stood on their tippy hooves as they reached for a loose piece of parchment. The paper appeared to be stained with the colours of the night. The Starlight looked about and saw a spare crayon. Taking the writing utensil in their claws they looked up at the sky, eager to see what image they could find. After some time had passed Avulon felt their heart skip with excitement when they saw something, though the only hint of their emotion was the shining wonder in their gaze. To be sure of what they saw, Avulon looked at their stuffed pieshu then back at the constellation. More confident with themself now, Avulon marked the stars down on the blue paper. Then they carefully connected the dots. Once Avulon felt certain they had copied the stars correctly, they moved on to draw the picture they had seen. When they had finished, Avulon looked at the other pictures and felt their heart drop. Theirs didn’t look anywhere near as good as the others. The Starlight looked at their stuffed Pieshu, who seemed to stare back at them with encouragement. It was enough to give Avulon the resolution to approach the proprietor of the stall.
I haven't finished my Memco prompts like I promised myself to do before I worked on anything for the event... but I just couldn't resist, especially when the first week is about to end. I don't want to miss out on all the fun! Maybe I can change the promise and tell myself that I need to finish at least one prompt per week before I draw for anything for the event.
I'm starting to get more into writing, which I'm kind of glad for, but still-... I hope I'll get my motivation for drawing back soon.
