The virus in his blood was beginning to take over his senses. Suddenly he could smell the blood that smeared the walls, and he detected something familiar in it.

It was Lizzie's blood. He knew it without a doubt, and it destroyed him. He choked back tears, his eyes closing in an attempt to block the knowledge out. She was the heroine, she wasn't supposed to die. She had to be alive somewhere.
