Spring Hill FarmLocated Outside Harrisburg, PA
Map Key
1. Stallion Barn
Our stallion barn has 10 stalls equipped with automatic waterers and virtually indestructible (they've tried!) metal hay racks. The stallions are comfortable bedded down in layers of clean bedding and are fed a daily grain ration to maintain their impeccable shape. The barn also boasts a feed room, a tack room, and multiple wash stalls. The stallion barn is connected to the indoor arena (2) through a breezeway.
2. Indoor Arena
The indoor arena is our pride and joy here at Spring Hill Farm. The arena is a new addition and is a whopping 100 x 200 feet in size. There's no lack of space here! Jumps and arena supplies can be found in the stallion barn breezeway for easy access. A viewing area with seats is also available in the main barn breezeway so that clients, parents, and spectators can have an amazing view of the entire arena.
3. Main Barn
Our main barn here at Spring Hill Farm is huge, just like the indoor arena! It's 30 stalls also have automatic waterers and metal hay racks for even the naughtiest horses. Like our stallions, each horse in the main barn is bedded down in layers of bedding and fed a similar grain ration. The main barn also has a tack room, a feed room, and multiple wash stalls.
4. Outdoor Jumping Arena
Our outdoor arenas are smaller than the indoor, but they do not lack in size! The outdoor jumping arena is 60 x 150 feet and boasts natural-looking jumps as well as more colorful jumps for riders of all arenas. The footing is a sandy blend that is not dusty like regular sand footing.
5. Outdoor Warmup Arena
The warmup outdoor arena is the same size as the jumping arena, but lacks jumps so that riders can warm up away from jumping riders. Dressage riders can also appreciate this arena as it is equipped with Dressage letters. Like the jumping arena, the footing is a non-dusty sand blend.
6. Courtyard
The courtyard also doubles as a parking lot for people visiting the barn. You can find "Aunt Jemima" parked here, the farm's trusty golf cart. The fountain is also a popular duck-feeding spot since it's so big!
7. Paddocks
For quick turnout, stallions that need to be alone, or horses that don't get along with the rest of the herd, Spring Hill Farm has small paddocks just off the courtyard. Each paddock has a run-in shed at the end and most share a tree for shade while the horses are grazing. Each stallion has his own personal paddock that he is turned out in, but the remaining paddocks are used for cranky and antisocial horses. The pastures are also equipped with automatic waterers in the run-in sheds.
8. Large Pasture
The large pasture should be described as huge, not large! It extends from the far end of the main barn to the base of the Appalachian Mountain, then wraps around the the edge of individual paddocks. The friendly mares and geldings are turned out here together. The large pasture has no run-in sheds, but does have multiple trees for shade. The automatic waterers are located by the trees and by the gate.
(not pictured) Main House
The main house where the owner and her husband lives is set back only 100 yards from the main road. The main farm and main house are on the same property, but the barn is a good 5 minutes back from the house. The owners drive their trusty golf cart to and from the main house every day.
(not labeled) Trails and Nature
The farm has its own pond that horses and riders enjoy swimming in during the hot summer. Miles of trails stretch throughout the farm's 40 acres and extend into the surrounding State Game Land. Since the farm is at the very base of the Appalachian Mountains, the trails also include hilly and mountainous terrain. Riders can also ride in the grassy fields that surround the barn and the pond. It truly is a rider's paradise!
