Description

This is my ancient dove, Matt. He has existed since the dawn of time, and he is indestructable to all forces of nature.

Okay, he might not be indestructable, but he's very, very old. He just turned 21 years old (or, 210 in bird years), and a dove's lifespan is about 10-12 years. He is very healthy for his age, and doesn't have much trouble getting around.

If it wasn't for us rescuing him, he would have died a long time ago. His previous owners, who were amateur dove breeders, bred him too much, which tired him out, and when he could no longer breed, they decided to break his neck. However, one of my Mom's friends overheard this, and offered to take him, seeing even then, I loved birds. A few days later, I came home from shopping, and there he was, in his cage (which is now occupied by Button), on my counter.

That was 9 years ago, and he isn't showing any signs of dying anytime soon. He's been a great pet, and after a year of resting, was able to breed again, and had a few clutches with Girk. However, Girk seems to have a bit of trouble with babies, so most of them die in the egg.

(And I know he's a little yellow. He always has had a bit of a yellowish tint, but this was from the camera.)
