Art spam! I did some drawing at my Grandma and Grandad's, so I'm colouring them all now. Here's Annika and Pedro just when Annika has just 'disappeared' to hide the fact that she is expecting teh babbus. She and Pedro are worried they aren't going to pull this off. But they'll be fine. Juuuuust fine. Ha ha.My sister captioned this picture:
"Pedro, did you just change outfits again?"
"It's fashion. You wouldn't understand."
And that became Pedro's catchphrase. It'll end up being a thing like Opal and forks.
Story Extract:
The next two months flew past swiftly, the days blurring together. Meetings with Cosette. Meetings with the Magi. Endless flights back and forth between the planet and the moons. Another visit to the factory. Another meeting of the Aerith Parliament. As she fell into the steady routine of meetings and negotiations, Annika started to feel as though this was how it would always be. Of course, she was wrong. Change crept in slowly, invisibly, but it came. Cold, sharp winds heralded the arrival of winter in North City, much to the dismay of Annika, who had never quite got used to the cold. Stubborn as they had been, the Magi had gradually yielded to the installation of the satellites; with no word from Opal or Sister Kitty, their argument was beginning to weaken. And though she didn’t notice the slight change from day to day, Annika’s stomach swelled, until one frosty morning, when heavy clouds hung over North City, she pulled on her cloak and saw from her reflection in the mirror that it would not disguise her shape much longer.
“Look.” Pedro turned away from the newscast he had been watching on the holo-projector and walked over to stand beside Annika. “You can definitely see something now. Right here.” Annika patted her protruding stomach fondly, but she felt her insides churning.
“How far along are you now?” From his face, Annika could see Pedro was just as worried as she was.
“Six months.” She leant into him; he wrapped his arm around her and took some of her weight. “We always knew it would come to this. It just… sort of crept up on us, didn’t it?”
“Don’t worry.” Pedro stroked her arm soothingly. “Now the satellites have been authorised…” Annika detected a note of trepidation in his voice. “You can resign your position with Cosette.”
“And go into hiding.” Annika sighed. “I did hope I’d see Opal one more time before I had to leave. Even just a call… But I guess it can’t be helped.”
“You’ll see her again,” Pedro promised, “Once the baby is here. And in the meantime, remember that I’ll be with you every step of the way.”
