Very few people know this, but in the original "Star Wars" (nowadays called "Episode IV"), the scene in which one of the Death Star controllers moves a lever to fire the beam that destroys Alderaan was shot in a Los Angeles TV studio. The control board with the lever is a Grass Valley 4000 video switcher. Where I work, I installed and operate a Grass Valley 2200 video switcher, which is basically the same thing except with two mixer buses ("sets of buttons and levers") instead of three. I was messing around with my camera Sunday, and thought it would be fun to get a comparable shot as that from "Star Wars."
