wow.....this photo describes what you said exactly.....I'm not quite sure what to say about it, but I understand your concept and I'm loving this shot

That "smack of emptiness" is just the thing I detest...fab capture. I feel thoroughly alienated. lol

first off, awesome picture and concept...
to me I see a person...looking at life with every thing looking the same...each door holding the same thing as the next creating no feeling of change. No diffrence. The same repeated feeling of nothing...so the person walks on and on forever never receiving any kind of happiness or sadness or feeling beside loneliness becuase the person is to reluctant to try something that might not be the same as everything else.

maybe confusing...but its what I get out of it..

Reminds me of a centipede, perhaps a mechanical one. A metaphor for progress, perhaps? The point of view is from behind - the viewer is being deserted as this mechanoid insect advances relentlessly, heedlessly onward. It cares not about the journey, but exists only to advance, never questioning its place, its purpose, or even its destination for it has none of these things.

The lighting is harsh, and cold, and sterile. THX-1138 was like that in some parts.

to me- it's like an ongoing, never-ending current. each blcok is connected to the mainstream and the plugs connecting each "person" to the mainframe is like keeping tabs on everyone. the ongoing-ness is like the billions of billions of people on earth... i guess kinda like Big Brother.

Very 1984.

Conforming to a pre-defined outline of what is asked of us.

I think you should do anther one and color one of the ones in the middle. A diamond in the orugh kind of feeling.

We're all connected, we're all next to each other, everyone with a nice screen that represents our world. And as an irony we're more isolated than ever, cause we can't see the person that's next to us, they are outside our screen, outside our world. We're miles away.

awesome really liked this pic. yes it's a sorta modern view. I just don't like it. if you swa equilibrium the scene when he reorganizes his desk. Without feeling , we are nothing. Without our differences, we are but only closing in on our own existence. It is the wrong more than the right that makes us. Remember in school when they said, we learn from our mistakes, well, those mistakes are what define us. this pic brings a tear to my eye, because it's true.

It shows monotony and repetition...I'd say you portrayed our modern world very well indeed.

That just about sums it up. Plus the cleanliness, the imperfect perfection, is sickening.

It has that sense of uniformity that we seem to have all fallen into these days...the problem is we're so easily lured to it; we are creatures of habit. But we also seek to be liked. Therefore we need this sense of uniformity to feel like we are the same as everyone, equal to them. If we weren't so prone to conforming to what others say and think, we'd be better off. If we could just break away for a moment...least that's how I understand it...

when you talk about modern times always being connected and online, and facing the "smack of emptiness" i see repetition and conformity in this photo. the reoccuring monitors all looking the same reminds me of a "same sh!t different day" mentality. but then i think that on the opposite side of these monitors each individual person can be doing, looking at, listening to, reading, or learning something different on the net. it makes me think of the net as a place thats too big for one person but just the right size for everyone.

in this i see frustration. i keep wanting the brackets or whatever in the foreground to be in focus, not the ones that actually are. perhaps this illustrates our worlds newfound impatience with anything that doesnt come immediately. anything we have to work harder at or wait longer than a millesecond for is quickly shunned in favor of a newer sleeker version.

It's very odd, but I really like it, though perhaps cropped a bit tighter on the right side, so that your cut at the edge of the table and not see those brackets.

I believe it shows what will become of teachers across america (or atleast texas), if things do not change...and eventually our lives, we depend on technology far too much, but by me saying that, i'm just another hypocrit.

Interesting concept! I get from this deviation the idea that everyone is hooked to the internet, not visible in the slightest, 'cause they don't want to be seen or heard.

actually it reminds me of the matrix...sends shivers down my spine really... we think we're plugged into the real world, we think we know everything, we are just so sure we control our existence...but this is not the real world...actually in this pluged room , reality is so easy to manipulate...makes you wonder

It's sad how much we depend on computers now. Makes me wonder what would happen if they all exploded, or we could no longer use the technology we've grown up with....scary times wouldcome.

understanding this work.....mright

well, it is a good way of visualizing our world. And that I do believe it is. In a way it shows how the world is today: equeal, no room for things different en hooked to something (tv, internet etc etc)

great work

I understand it as a bunch of nice-looking white computers in a line. Anything more than that would sound pretentious to me. And it's a bit too out of focus for it to work, in my opinion.
