I don't find this very impressive because you basically drew an outline of him and filled in the cross-hatches and stipples afterward.
The point of cross-hatching and stippling is to create the illusion of contour without the use of outlines.
Mold your figure without the bold lines that create boundaries; I hope you take this constructively---I personally cross-hatch in my
own drawings and have come to respect the intricacies of contour.
