also, don't you think that an ever changing tetris stage with the only opening being at the top would have been awesome, or a stage from final fantasy crystal chronicles, where if you leave the mana circle your percent goes up

Yes. But think about a stage from Resident Evil series. It could change from the main locals of all the RE games, like the Arklay Mansion from RE 1 or the village from RE 4.
