Description
Cats: Muchi and CookieGenders: Both male
Ages: 4 1/2 years and 2 years
So, last night, I went out into the kitchen and saw Muchi and Cookie had pushed aside the back door blinds and were clearly watching something interesting, as their tails were waving around like crazy! I pushed the blinds aside more and saw that one of the toads that hang out in our backyard, especially when it's raining, was sitting in the backyard cats' food bowl, eating cat food. The cats never bother the toads, though they might just stare at it in interest. I thought it was adorable and had to take a picture!

Isn't it? That size is normal for the toads in our backyard!

Really? I've only seen a frog once in my backyard! But I guess that's because I live in Texas and it doesn't rain enough.

Yowza. That toad is HUGE! And lumpy! No wonder the cats stay behind the glass.

Heh, the cats aren't allowed outside, so it's doubtful they'll ever really encounter one up close and personal. Those are the food bowls for the stray and feral cats in the backyard, and they tend to give the toads a bit of space. I don't think that my cats understand the dangers of the outside!

oh wow, front-row seats at the liveshow! eyeballing distance!
That's one mega-toad! The ones we get in our garden are small, abou the size of a walnut-in-its-shell. They hang around and eat the ants that come for the catfood that falls outside the bowls ... but don't hop into the bowls! Our cats are not bothered though ... live and let live, they say!

At least this time, Cookie didn't stand on his hind legs and scratch like crazy at the door, like he and Ricky usually do when there's a kitty or something out there they want to get to! This way, I could get a cute picture! XD
Yup, we get really huge toads (when they're full-sized--when they bred in our pond, we'd have smaller ones that weren't their full size yet)! Rarely we get frogs in the front yard that are no bigger than my thumb, but the toads are pretty common. We also occasionally get a possum family to visit in the backyard, too. They like cat food, too! I'd love to get a picture of one of them!

That is a really big toad! They look like they want to eat the toad.
That's like my two little hunters and wanting to eat the groundhog in the backyard.

Yeah, the toads around our house are pretty huge. They used to breed in the little pond in our backyard. It's dried out now, but the toads still come occasionally, especially if it's raining!
They probably would try to eat the toad. The stray and feral cats outside wouldn't. They'd just stare at it!

"Hey, look! New food in our bowl! Toadally awesome!"
"Man, if he eats our food, I'm gonna make him croak."
