I've hidden how I truly feel today
Concealed behind a mask of fractured pain
I smile and tell my friends that I'm okay
As blackened voices echo in my brain

They tell me I've become an empty shell
A shadowed sliver of my former self
A fallen soul in my own private hell
An unread book placed back upon the shelf

For years I've sought to rediscover me
To peel back all the layers of my soul
To love all that I am, was and will be
To fit the pieces that once made me whole

And now I see what ignorance has cost
For to be found, you must admit you're lost.
